Tucker Carlson comes after Jim Acosta following smug jabs: He’s ‘so proud of himself’

Fox News host Tucker Carlson targeted Jim Acosta after the CNN reporter took a smug jab at him usingĀ an excerpt from his new book.

Carlson did not mention theĀ ā€œfauxmacho man bullsh*tā€ swipe by Acosta against him and his colleague Sean Hannity, but he did call out the CNN White House correspondent and his network for glaring bias during “Tucker Carlson Tonight.”

The Fox News host highlighted the bias in comments on Friday, noting how the liberal media is “blissfully unaware” of it during the course of its own “botched reporting.”

Carlson’s commentary followed Acosta’s tweet slamming Hannity for his jabs earlier in the week, as the CNN reporter shared an anecdote from his new book,Ā ā€œEnemy of the People: A Dangerous Time to Tell the Truth in America.ā€

Acosta alleged Hannity and Carlson once avoided him when they saw him in person even though they had spent months bashing his reporting on-air.

ā€œHearing Sean Hannity is taking some shots at me over my book,ā€ Acosta tweeted Friday. ā€œTwo things Sean… #1 I offered to come on your show and talk about the book and you guys declined. Sad! #2 you’re in the book. It was that time you had a chance to say something to my face but didn’t. Enjoy!ā€

Hannity shot back in a tweet saying he didn’t want to “subject my audience to conspiracy theory fake news.”

While Carlson did not address Acosta’s jab directly, he called him out for being “so proud of himself” while failing in journalistic integrity.

“Americans’ faith in the news media has collapsed over the last decade,” Carlson said, noting that “nothing is more justified than people’s loathing for the press.”

“The media have repeatedly botched reporting and missed big stories – they do it every single day. They no longer hide their bias,” he continued.

“Amazingly though, in the face of all of this, many of the journalists responsible for destroying their own business are blissfully unaware of what they’ve done,” he added, showing a video clip of Acosta and his CNN colleague Don LemonĀ “complimenting one another for a job well done.”

“Regardless of who it is, if you hold a position of power, we the journalists at CNN are going to question you about it whether you like it or not,” Lemon said on Wednesday.

“That’s right. We’re here to hold their feet to the fire. And just because we’re pro-truth doesn’t mean that we are anti-Trump and … we’re not the enemy of the people, we are defenders to the people,” Acosta responded.Ā ā€œWe’re not here to spin things or color things a certain way, we’re here to give the people reliable, accurate information on a daily basis, that’s why we come into work every day.ā€

Carlson found the remarks from Acosta amusing.

ā€œNo one’s ever accused Jim Acosta of being a genius, but even by our estimate, it’s pretty shocking that he is so proud of himself,ā€ he said, before airing another clip that was an example of the “hard-hitting, fair-minded reporting he was just talking about.”

The clip showed Acosta asking President Trump about his critics accusing him of “creating a national emergency, that you are concocting a national emergency in order to get your wall.” The president responded by bringing up Angel Moms.

“Yeah. So the border crisis isn’t real. It was just concocted by the president for political reasons. That’s Jim Acosta’s position,” Carlson concluded before moving on to highlight bias at other networks as well.
