Dems plan to trot out anti-Trump psychiatrists on Capitol Hill to ‘prove’ he’s mentally unstable

Is there no end to the antics by Democrats desperate to rid America of President Donald Trump?

The party that is daily calling for Trump’s impeachment, which has pushed conspiracy theories and blatant lies about the president, is now planning to attack his mental stability – again.

Democrats are now behind an event being planned on Capitol Hill that will prove them right about Trump being unfit for office because of his mental health, hosting psychiatrists who believe the president is a danger to the nation due to his mental instability, the Washington Examiner reported.

“The president’s condition has been visibly deteriorating to the point where there’s a lot of talk right now about his mental state beyond mental health professionals,” Dr. Bandy Lee, a Yale School of Medicine psychiatrist, said. “It no longer takes a mental health professional to recognize the seriousness of the current presidency.”

Lee, editor of the book “The Dangerous Case of Donald Trump,” will be leading the event which does not yet have a date set but will be held “imminently soon within the next couple of weeks.”

Lee’s book contends that the public must be warned by psychiatrists who have a responsibility to reveal when a president is a danger to the country. The view flies in the face of direction from psychiatric associations which discourage diagnosing anyone who has not been personally seen and evaluated.

Rep. John Yarmuth confirmed the town hall which Lee has billed as a bipartisan event.

“We’re planning to put together an event,” the Kentucky Democrat and Budget Committee chairman who has called for Trump’s impeachment said. “She’s calling it a town hall. We haven’t actually determined the format, but it’s going to be an event where she is going to present her findings, and media will be invited.”

According to the Washington Examiner:

According to Lee, attendees at the town hall would watch a condensed video that was recorded at a Washington, D.C., event held at the National Press Club in March that featured 13 experts discussing how they didn’t think Trump was fit for office. The experts, who came from the fields of mental health, philosophy, history, and journalism, said they were worried about the president’s access to nuclear weapons and the impact his administration would have on climate change.

Lee said the event is to allow members of Congress to ask her and other experts questions, but planners hope the town hall will be broadcast live so that people who aren’t in D.C. also would be able to watch and submit questions.

“I don’t think an assessment of someone’s mental health is an impeachable issue,” Yarmuth clarified, though he acknowledged he went ahead with planning  the event “for the same fears she has,” referring to Lee.

“That the president is manifesting dangerous behavior and the American people need to be alert to it,” the Democrat said. “Their position is that as professionals, when they see patterns of behavior that are endangering people, that they have a professional obligation to go public and alert the people who are threatened, and in this case it’s the American people.”

Lee has been at work with a group in Washington, D.C. to set up a medical panel to evaluate Trump’s mental state, warning that in an emergency, he “can mislead the country in destructive or nefarious ways.”

“It’s deceptive because it seems like he’s alert, it seems like he’s responding to things in a rational manner, but it is not the case from every measure that we have taken,” Lee said. “And this is very serious. In fact, worse than if he had a stroke and were unconscious because he can mislead the country in destructive or nefarious ways.”

Lee and other psychiatrists presented a report in April based on special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation of alleged Russian election meddling, calling on the president to undergo an evaluation. When the suggestion received no formal reply, a recommendation was made to limit Trump’s war powers and access to nuclear weapons, concluding that he “lacks mental basic mental capacity for duties of office.”

“Our concern is that the dangers be contained — the dangers of having a president who lacks the mental capacity, lacks the fitness to discharge his duties of office for the remainder of his term,” Lee said. “I mean, this is really a national emergency.”

Conservative commentator Rush Limbaugh blasted Lee and the Democrats who are backing her during his radio show Wednesday.

“She doesn’t even have a degree in psychiatry! She’s currently ‘an assistant clinical professor at the Yale School of Medicine’s Law and Psychiatry Division, where she has been teaching students studying to be public defenders”’ to become asylum attorneys!” he said. “She’s not even a shrink, and she’s got a book in which she claims to be a psychiatrist warning people about the dangers of Trump’s mental health.”

“Now, despite the fact that she’s not a psychiatrist, back on December 5 and 6, 2017, Dr. Bandy Lee ‘met with more than a dozen members of Congress,’ all Democrats, ‘to warn that Trump is gonna unravel, and we are seeing the signs,” Limbaugh continued.

“On January 5th, 2019, she told Newsweek that ‘Donald Trump’s mental health might lead to the extinction of the human species.’ That’s a quote,” he added. “Who is it that’s nuts here?”
