‘I can’t believe this’: Tarlov is outnumbered and outsmarted after fiery exchange with Steve Hilton

Steve Hilton and Jessica Tarlov locked horns in a heated debate on immigration during a Fox News discussion that quickly escalated into a shouting match.

Speaking on immigration reform and a proposal by House Democrats addressing DACA recipients and pathways to citizenship for immigrants, the “Outnumbered” panel on Tuesday took up the issue of Democrats’ resistance to working with President Trump to resolve the nation’s immigration issues.

Tarlov defended the bill while her colleagues slammed it as a political tool being used by Democrats as Trump and GOP lawmakers are not likely to approve of the legislation.

“It’s not about politics,” the political strategist and Fox News commentator argued as co-host Harris Faulkner wondered “why can’t we have something that’ll actually pass?”

Tarlov’s reply that “Republicans would never vote for something like this” prompted Hilton, host of Fox News’ “The Next Revolution with Steve Hilton,” to interject.

“The Republicans did vote for it. The point is that you are never going to get anywhere on this issue, and this is why the people are so frustrated, unless you combine the two parts of it and have real and believable border security,” he said. “That has to start with building the wall. It was the clearest promise in the 2016 election campaign. Everybody heard that promise.”

Melissa Francis argued that Democrats refuse to negotiate on the measure and prefer to go with a “meaningless” bill that “has no hope of becoming a law” as others agreed that Democrats will not go along with anything that appears to give Trump a victory.

“We aren’t saying they can’t work together. I’m saying on this issue,” Faulkner said when Tarlov objected. “Democrats want to do total reform. Republicans want to fix what’s broken in an emergency situation. Now suddenly we all agree as a nation that it’s an emergency, and Democrats aren’t moving.”

“provided by elective abortions,” a frustrated Tarlov said after trying repeatedly to make her case.

Hilton jumped in to say “Democrats don’t want the other side” of the negotiation, prompting Tarlov to exclaim, “like Republicans do?!”

“Jessica, it is very clear that the Democrats simply don’t want the border security part of it to happen because they don’t want to control immigration,” Hilton said.

“That’s because you think it’s only happening with a wall,” Tarlov countered.”There are a number of Republicans who live on border states who don’t [believe in the wall].”

Hilton argued that Trump’s plan was for a wall “but it was also more money for the immigration courts…the whole package.”

Francis interjected with a question for Tarlov “so she’s not totally frustrated” as the segment came to a close.

“Do you think there is a solution where both sides can come together that includes a wall that but isn’t a wall only? Could that look like criminal justice reform? Do you think Dems would go for that?” she asked.

“I think the wall is a huge sticking point. I think that border security done in a different way is obviously a conversation,” Tarlov replied as the segment came to a close.

“Ok, well that was very fiery. I don’t know how much more time we have left,” Francis joked at the end.
