Jeanine Pirro takes on Mueller stunt: ‘Sheer lunacy … a serious case of seller’s remorse’

In her latest monologue Saturday, Fox News host Judge Jeanine Pirro denounced special counsel Robert Mueller’s recent press conference as nothing but a political stunt designed to restore his damaged reputation with liberal Democrats and “rally the troops [i.e., congressional Democrats] around impeachment.”

“The reason that Robert Mueller spoke publicly this week is because he was more worried about his legacy than he was in protecting this country,” she said on FNC’s “Justice with Jeanine.” “This is counter to everything he was taught and supposedly stood for, and is not only disappointing but politically damaging.”

Ever since the release of Mueller’s redacted report in April, he’s faced criticism from liberal Democrats upset by his decision to effectively exonerate President Donald Trump of Russian collusion but leave the obstruction of justice decision up to Attorney General Bill Barr and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein.

“Robert Mueller failed to do his duty,” reads one blunt headline at The Washington Post from liberal commentator Ronald A. Klain, who previously served as a senior White House aide in both former Presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton’s respective administrations:

“Mueller had a case of seller’s remorse,” Pirro continued. “When the seller regrets what he’s already sold. It seems Bob is afflicted with a serious case of this remorse. The original report didn’t hurt Trump enough. Ask yourself one question. Why after 10 weeks, after the special counsel report is submitted, does Mueller unilaterally decide to hold a press conference to say he’s closing shop?”

“And why does Mueller do a Jim Comey and say I didn’t charge but only because dot dot dot? He does it to rally the left because the Mueller report didn’t hurt enough.”

Back in 2016 the FBI chose to not pursue charges against former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton over her illicit use of a private email server to transmit State Department intelligence.

Following that decision, then-FBI Director James Comey held a widely panned press conference in which hie essentially relitigated the entire case in front of the American people.

“Mind you, the report is the best evidence of the investigation,” Pirro noted. “It is the investigation. There is no need to unilaterally emphasize or add to the document. Not Robert Mueller. He decides to jump into the political fray just like his pal Jim Comey did. And now the calls for impeachment are echoing throughout Congress. This was not the case when the report was committed.”

And that was the point, she argued.

Listen to part one of her monologue below:

“So Mueller, I imagine at the behest of the left, gives them what they need to jump-start the calls for impeachment,” she explained. “But nothing has changed in the report. The only thing that changed is Mueller deciding to create chaos and havoc, as if two years of an investigation of the president showing absolutely no Trump Russia collusion and no obstruction are not enough. But that’s what Mueller did. Muddy up the waters and charge up the left.”

Despite Barr and Rosenstein ultimately ruling that Trump had not obstructed justice — a ruling that they were allowed to make because of Mueller’s decision to not issue his own ruling — the special counsel felt it necessary Thursday to imply that the president might be guilty.

“Now Mueller is adding, ‘Look, I’m not confident you didn’t commit a crime.’ That’s sheer lunacy,” Pirro pointed out. “I don’t know a prosecutor in this country who ever said after a grand jury investigation, ‘I’m not sure he didn’t commit a crime.'”

You will either indict or you don’t. You don’t come out and say, ‘You know, I’m not indicting him, but I’m telling you he ain’t a good guy.’

“Every prosecutor knows if you don’t indict someone, you stop there. So what was the point of the 400-plus report. The report doesn’t say, ‘I’m not confident you didn’t commit a crime.’ So what’s the endgame now?”

That should be obvious, shouldn’t it?

“Let’s take a second to talk about collusion,” the host continued. “Not the Trump Russia collusion. But what about collusion between Mueller and the Democrats? … The Democrats are desperate. They need Mueller to shake things up so they can rally the troops around impeachment.”

And that, incidentally, was exactly what the special counsel did via his press conference.

“We did however not make a determination as to whether the president did commit a crime,” he said during his 10-minute conference.

“Why the heck not? What did you and your gang of Trump hating, Hillary-loving lawyers do for two years? He uses the excuse that the guidelines say you can’t indict a sitting president,” Pirro retorted.

Listen to the rest of her monologue below:

In concluding her monologue, Pirro reiterated her belief that Mueller’s press conference was nothing but a political stunt designed to help the Democrats, i.e., the “Demon Rats,” as she calls them.

“Let’s recap. Neither the president nor anyone on the Trump campaign colluded with Russia. You couldn’t make a decision on obstruction, and by law the attorney general and deputy attorney general had to do so. So who the hell asked you this week to come out this week and muddy the waters like Jim Comey did in 2016!?” she asked in exasperation.

“I guess we now have a competition between holier than thou Jim Comey and Mueller, both members of the choir of Never Trumpers in the church of Demonrats, because that’s what this is all about. Nothing more, and nothing less.”
