Al Sharpton confuses Andrew Jackson and Andrew Johnson in rant over Harriet Tubman $20 bill delay

Race-baiting MSNBC host Al Sharpton is fomenting left-wing outrage again. This time, he’s slamming the Trump administration’s decision to delay replacing former President Andrew Jackson on the $20 bill with anti-slavery activist Harriet Tubman.

During a rant on his MSNBC weekend show, Sharpton twice confused Andrew Jackson with another former US president, Andrew Johnson.

Sharpton raged: “You’re talking about a black woman abolitionist that is going to replace a slave owner who was one that fought against many of the things that his immediate predecessor, Abe Lincoln, stood for. And you’re going to delay it!”

Hello? Andrew Jackson died before Lincoln took office

For the record, Andrew Jackson is on the $20 bill. He was president from 1829 to 1837. Andrew Johnson (who was president from 1865-1869) succeeded Abraham Lincoln.

Harriett Tubman won’t be placed on the $20 bill until 2028, as the redesign is not a pressing issue.

“The primary reason we have looked at redesigning the currency is for counterfeiting issues,” Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said last week. “Based upon this, the $20 bill will not come out until 2028.”

Predictably, left-wing activists are crying “racism!” over this.

MSNBC panelists did not correct Sharpton’s fake “fact”

Naturally, none of Sharpton’s leftist panel guests corrected him when he confused Andrew Jackson and Andrew Johnson.

In fact, left-wing comedian Dean Obeidallah doubled-down on Sharpton’s comments and took it a step further.

“Absolutely,” Obeidallah said while agreeing with Sharpton’s anti-Trump tirade. “There’s more of a chance that [Trump would] put David Duke on the $20 bill before he’d put Harriet Tubman.”

A little later, Al Sharpton lamented that the Republican Party is no longer the party of Abraham Lincoln. That’s when he repeated his mistake by confusing Andrew Jackson and Andrew Johnson.

Reminder: Jackson died in 1845; Lincoln did not become president until 1861.

Sharpton spouted: “They used to call it the ‘Party of Lincoln’ and Frederick Douglass — both of whom were opposed to what Jackson ended up doing after Lincoln’s assassination, and both of whom were allied and stood with Harriet Tubman.”

Abe Lincoln was assassinated by pro-slavery Democrat

Andrew Jackson died in 1845 — 20 years before Lincoln’s assassination by liberal actor John Wilkes Booth, a Democrat. Like other Democrats of his time, Booth supported slavery. He assassinated Lincoln to protest Abe’s move to end slavery.

While it’s understandable to confuse two people named Andrew, imagine the media outrage if President Trump had confused two black politicians. The media would be obsessing over it nonstop for at least 48 hours.

Black activist: Stop listening to that liar Al Sharpton

Al Sharpton has a long history of race-baiting. In April 2019, Sharpton pressured several Democratic presidential candidates to promise that they would pay black Americans “slavery reparations” if they won the 2020 election.

However, black activists warned black voters to not fall for the “Blame Whitey” hustle because no one is getting reparations. It’s merely a scam to con black Americans into voting for Democrats.

“It’s more of that Blame Whitey movement mania. And it’s sheer racial rhetoric. That’s what you get at the Al Sharpton so-called ‘House of Justice.’ You have buffoonery. You have diversion, you have distraction. You have this notion of farce. Either way, it is not to be taken seriously.”
