The Conservative Hispanic army that’s fighting hard for President Trump

If you were to listen only to the the left, you’d likely quickly draw the conclusion that there’s no such thing as a minority Trump supporter — that “only racist white people like Trump”:

After all, the Democrat Party and their media allies have repeatedly decried President Donald Trump’s supporters as “toothless” “half-wits” and white supremacists/white nationalists.

Except that this narrative — which, sadly, some people really believe — is patently false. In reality, there’s a growing coalition of minorities who proudly support the president.

Included among them is Anna Paulina, the director of Hispanic engagement at Turning Point USA and the vice president of Bienvenido, a Texas-based group for Hispanic conservatives.

A second-generation Mexican America, Paulina’s a proud Republican and staunch supporter of Trump who doesn’t care much for Democrats. Neither do her fellow Hispanics at Bienvenido. Why?

“We’re not going to buy into your [Democrats’] identity politics anymore,” she explained in an interview last week with The Daily Caller “Because really, they’ve targeted the blacks. They’re targeting us. And they’re basically trying to incite certain ideologies that are keeping Americans divided. We’re not going to be a part of that anymore. We’re part of the united front to fight for this nation.”

To this day, Democrats continue to try to convince minority Americans that the Republican Party — especially the party under “racist Trump” — is nothing but a collection of bigoted white people who seek to eliminate civil rights for minorities and even re-institute slavery.

Remember this video?

During the 2012 presidential election only seven years ago, then-Vice President Joe Biden (who’s currently running in the 2020 election to be president) warned black Americans that Republicans such as then-GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney wanted to “put ya’ll back in chains.”

That’s called identity politics, and it’s something neither Paulina nor her peers at Bienvenido have any use for. And FYI, Biden has never faced any criticism from the media for saying this.

If anything, the media have eagerly jumped on the “Republicans are all racist monsters” bandwagon. Their latest argument is that the president’s tough approach toward illegal immigration is rooted in racism against Hispanic immigrants.

Their evidence? Remarks Trump made during the start of the 2016 presidential election in which he slammed Mexico for doing nothing to stop illegal immigration.

“When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best,” he said. “They’re not sending you. They’re not sending you. They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.”

Though the media used this to argue that the president believes Mexicans are drug dealers and rapists, Paulina and her peers with Bienvenido know better.

“First and foremost, it’s important when you’re hearing these little clips or feeds, that you’re listening to the entire message,” Paulina said to The Daily Caller.

“When you listen to the entire message, you can hear President Trump say they’re not all bad. But happens is that the news and certain people who might have agendas against him will take little segments and then they’ll look it, and that’s not the entire message.”

Watch her interview with The Daily Caller below:

As for the president’s actual message, it was correct, Paulina argued.

“It is actually in the invested interest of the people to make sure that they’re coming here legally. Because people that aren’t, they’re exploited,” she said.

True, and Democrats appear to support this exploitation. Last month Paula tried confronting 2020 Democrat presidential candidate Sen. Kamala Harris about this exploitation but was blown off.

Another member of Bienvenido whom The Daily Caller spoke with described growing up in a family that always identified as Democrat. It wasn’t til he grew up that he saw the truth for himself.

“They just told me since I was young we’re Democrats, they said, because the Republicans are for the rich, the whites, so I didn’t really know. … As I started growing stronger in my faith, I started seeing how they’re against all my values,” he said.

It turns out that, despite the propaganda spouted by the left, anyone can be a conservative, a Republican, a Trump supporter, etc. And that’s one of the big points Paulina hopes to convey.

“We are coming up and directly combating the people that are on Telemundo, that are on Univision, that are telling our kids … that you cannot be conservative, and that if you are, that you don’t have the vested interest of our people. That’s wrong,” she said.

“That’s not who we are as a people. And frankly, this movement here could potentially help save the nation. Because it’s not just conservative Hispanics anymore. We’re aligning with conservative blacks, conservative whites, under the fact that we love this country.”

“And I’ll tell you this: The conservative Hispanic base comes out to vote in numbers,” she concluded.

An NPR/PBS/Marist poll from January found that the president’s approval rating among Hispanics had skyrocketed to 50 percent. A McLaughlin & Associates poll conducted two months later found the same thing. These results sharply contrast the 16 percent approval he boasted before the 2016 election and suggest that efforts by the likes of Paulina are working like a charm.

Bienvenido last made headlines in February when the group rallied outside of the White House and chanted “Build the Wall” in support of the president’s immigration agenda.
