Pretend Pelosi: AOC gets a chance to play grown-up, youngest woman to preside over House

Last week the same childlike congresswoman who only just recently discovered the garbage disposal became the youngest woman to ever preside over the House of Representatives.

As part of what’s been described as a “routine rotation of House members,” New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was allowed last Friday to wield the infamous speaker’s gavel and preside over the lower chamber of Congress for roughly an hour.

“Today I presided over the House floor for the first time,” she proudly tweeted afterward. “Every day here is a sacred privilege + responsibility entrusted to me by my community. I never forget that, and moments like these drive it home. Thank you to the people of NY14 + beyond.”

“This House belongs to all of us,” she added.

She included the following video of her eventually ending the session:

According to Reuters, she didn’t actually do anything substantive.

“In the event, Ocasio-Cortez did not have a great deal to do,” the outlet has confirmed. “She presided over ‘special orders,’ which are generally short speeches by House members at the end of the day’s legislative business, often on issues of concern in their districts.”

And amazingly enough, she couldn’t even do that correctly: “Ocasio-Cortez, 29, called on members as they rose to speak, once or twice stumbling over their states of origin.”

“For what purpose does the gentleman from Ohio — um, from Illinois, excuse me, seek recognition?” she reportedly said to Democrat Rep. Sean Casten.

After the session concluded, she bemoaned not having been able to take selfies.

“That was my first time presiding. And it’s exciting. It’s certainly a view. I wish we could, I wish we were allowed to take photos,” she told reporters …

Sighs …

As it to be expected, mockery of the young congresswoman began pouring in quite quickly.

“What kid doesn’t get excited when their parent lets them sit in the driver’s seat and pretend to be driving?” one Twitter user wrote. “This was a natural progression for AOC after playing grown up in shoes too big for her and learning about dangerous things like garbage disposals.”

Regarding selfies, what’s both interesting and suspiciously odd is that, despite AOC’s clear-cut love of selfies (and Instagram), she abstained from taking a selfie when a Trump supporter and his son allegedly showed up outside her office last week to praise her …

“About an hour ago, I was walking out of my office for the day,” she wrote. “There was a man what I believe was his teenage son hanging a small sign they made outside my office (we let people leave well wishes on our wall). Astonishingly, his sign read: ‘Trump supporters for Ocasio-Cortez.’”

She managed to snap a picture of the sign but not the alleged Trump supporter:

She even spoke with the guy, or so she claims, and he allegedly said he supports her radical climate change plans to restructure all of American society.

“I’ve been saying for years that climate change is our most important crisis. You’re one of the only ones who‘s been willing to be decisive on it,” the unnamed Trump supporter allegedly said. “I like you. I can tell that you are genuine and fighting for us. You’re real and you get it.”

Many have questioned the legitimacy of this story for obvious reasons. Ocasio-Cortez clearly loves attention, as evidenced by her constant selfies and her going out of her way to highlight her brief hour wielding the speaker’s gavel, yet there were none to accompany this story.

Hmm …

AOC does have a history of distorting the truth and/or lying.
