Unearthed 2006 Biden video: We need a wall. I voted for a fence to keep out ‘tons, tons’ of drugs from Mexico

According to contemporary left-wing standards, former Vice President Joe Biden is a Nazi. How so? Because 13 years ago the then-senator touted his support for using fences to essentially stop Mexican “drug dealers” from shipping “tons” of drugs across the border.

“Folks, I voted for a fence,” he proudly announced while speaking about the Secure Fence Act of 2006 at a meeting of the South Carolina rotary club in November of that year. “I voted, unlike most Democrats — and some of you won’t like it — I voted for 700 miles of fence.”

Listen to the relevant portion of the speech below:

“But, let me tell you, we can build a fence 40 stories high, [but] unless you change the dynamic in Mexico, and — and you will not like this, and — punish American employers who knowingly violate the law when, in fact, they hire illegals,” he added as a caveat, presumably to appease those among the audience who didn’t support the bill. “Unless you do those two things, all the rest is window dressing.”

“Now, I know I’m not supposed to say it that bluntly, but they’re the facts, they’re the facts,” he continued. And so everything else we do is in between here. Everything else we do is at the margins.”

Then came the big reveal:

And the reason why I add that parenthetically, why I believe the fence is needed does not have anything to do with immigration as much as drugs,” he said, echoing the exact same sentiment that current President Donald Trump has repeatedly expressed.

And let me tell you something folks, people are driving across that border with tons, tons, hear me, tons of everything from byproducts for methamphetamine to cocaine to heroin, and it’s all coming up through corrupt Mexico.

Besides accusing Mexico of being corrupt — isn’t that racist, according to the left’s standards? — Biden accused the Mexican people themselves of trafficking drugs across the border.

If not racist, the former VP is at the very least a brazen hypocrite (not that he’s alone):

Now recall the backlash that ensued in 2015 when then-GOP presidential candidate Trump accused Mexico of sending illegal alien rapists and drugs dealers into the U.S. and pledged to erect a wall along the southern U.S. border to put a stop to this unsavory behavior.

Accusations that the then-candidate was a Nazi, a white supremacist, a white nationalist, a racist, a bigot, etc., etc., etc., began swirling throughout social media and the national media.

At the time NBC went so far as to drop its business relationship with Trump because of his allegedly “racist” remarks about illegal alien rapists and drug dealers, both of whom do exist.

“Due to the recent derogatory statements by Donald Trump regarding immigrants, NBCUniversal is ending its business relationship with Mr. Trump,” the network said in a statement. “At NBC, respect and dignity for all people are cornerstones of our values.”

Trump responded by reminding NBC that he had been speaking about illegal aliens and further noting that there’s nothing wrong with securing the border and stopping illegal immigration.

Accusations of racism are still being lodged against Trump.

“[W]hen you talk about him referring to immigrants as rapists and murderers, I don’t think you can reach any other conclusion,” current Democrat presidential candidate Sen. Kamala Harris said three months in defense of her assertion that the president is racist.

According to the left, every single one of the president’s immigration-related goals is “racist,” including his desire to build a wall along the border and his interest in rooting out asylum fraud.

But given Biden’s unearthed comments from 2006, the question becomes whether he too is now a racist bigot, white supremacist and Nazi. If liberals believe in consistency at all, then yes, he is one. But given their demonstrated lack of consistency, it’s more likely they’ll excuse his about-face.

Case in point:

The latest excuse is that he’s “evolved” …

Some would argue that all that’s “evolved” is his ability to pander. Last week he told a crowd of supporters that Jim Crow was “sneaking back in” to America. When he announced his candidacy in April, he did so by falsely accusing the president of harboring white supremacist sympathies.
