Papadopoulos spills spicy details behind NYT shock report: Obama admin ‘dispatched’ spies to pry him for dirt

The New York Times admitted in a genuine bombshell piece Thursday that during the 2016 presidential election, then-President Barack Hussein Obama’s FBI employed multiple spies to surveil then-GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump’s foreign policy adviser George Papadopoulos.

Those spies included University of Cambridge senior fellow Stefan Halper and a mysterious woman who identified as “Azra Turk.” While conservative media have been aware of Halper’s involvement in the Obama administration’s spying efforts since at least 2018, Thursday’s bombshell marked one of the first instances of the liberal mainstream media finally acknowledging the truth.

Speaking later Thursday evening on Fox News’ “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” Papadopoulos confirmed the veracity of the Times’ report and provided further details on what exactly had happened.

Listen:

“I received an unsolicited email in September of 2016 from a man named Stefan Halper who was suggesting that he wanted to pay me $3,000 to write a report on energy security questions,” he said.

“I was a recognized expert on it at the time. I looked him up because I’d never heard of him before. I just saw that he had worked in four administrations, and he was a professor at Cambridge, so I accepted his offer and he flew me to London, where he paid for my five-star hotel and he said, before I meet with you, I want you to meet my assistant.”

That assistant was “Azra Turk.” Moreover, this unsolicited email was sent roughly six months after Trump tapped Papadopoulos to serve as one of his campaign’s foreign policy advisers.

“I went and I met with her, and she was very suggestive … younger, very flirtatious,” he continued Thursday on Fox. “I right away understood this wasn’t a Cambridge assistant, and she barely spoke English, and she was very flirty and was trying to do two things — one, to extract information about my professional connections in the Middle East, and two, to see I had any information she could potentially extract from me about Trump and Russia, which of course is nonsense.”

Released last month, special counsel Robert Mueller’s report on alleged Russian collusion found that neither Trump nor his campaign associates, including Papadopoulos, had “coordinated or conspired with the Russian government in its election-interference activities.”

According to Papadopoulos, during a veritable dinner date the next evening with “Turk,” she tried once again to extract information from him about Trump and Russia.

“I was very suspicious. From that moment I knew there was something wrong, and I was laughing about it, but now course The New York Times reported that she was some sort of agent. But I don’t think she was FBI. I think she was CIA,” he said.”

Whether or not she worked with the FBI or the CIA, the point remains the same — she was “dispatched by the Obama administration,” as host Tucker Carlson put it, to spy on Trump.

“But she was dispatched by the Obama administration — Barack Obama was the president of the United States, led the executive branch, including the CIA and the FBI — to spy on, in effect, the Trump campaign. Am I missing something, or is that what happened?” the host said.

“That is absolutely what happened,” Papadopoulos responded in agreement.

In other words, the Obama administration spied on Trump, as the president has been claiming since 2017, and as Attorney General Bill Barr testified to Congress last month.

Yet for two years Democrats and their media allies mocked the president — and later Barr — over allegations that Obama had spied. But who’s laughing now?

Nobody, actually, because spying “is a big deal,” as Barr testified to Congress last month.

What remains unclear is whether these spying efforts were “adequately predicated,” ergo why the attorney general has launched an investigation to “explore” the Obama administration’s efforts and ensure that the federal government’s power hadn’t been “abused.”

Some suspect that it’s this willingness to hold the Department of Justice accountable that’s spurred congressional Democrats and their media allies into slandering Barr nonstop.

“When William Barr took over as attorney general, it was the first time in years the agency had any real political accountability,” renowned Fox News contributor Mollie Hemingway notes.

“While Barr was adamant that Mueller’s special counsel probe be unimpeded and his report fully published, he scared the anti-Trump forces in and out of government when he said spying on opposing political campaigns is inappropriate.”

“His public vow to examine whether the widespread spying operation against Trump and his affiliates was lawful and appropriate sent shockwaves through an organized anti-Trump political operation that had completely controlled the narrative until recently.”

A narrative that’s now been so exposed that even one of the most left-wing papers in the country, The New York Times, has had to admit that yes, “spying did occur.”
