Tucker on Valerie Jarrett’s book barely selling, but making NY Times best seller list: ‘So inconceivable…it’s fraud’

If the reaction to an ill-conceived joke by comedian Roseanne Barr didn’t convince you that Valerie Garrett was a member of the Obama royalty, perhaps an observation from Fox News’ Tucker Carlson will do the trick.

Carlson marveled on his show, Tucker Carlson Tonight,” about how Jarrett, a former adviser to President Barack Obama, topped the New York Times bestseller despite not selling many copies of her new book.

“So former Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett has a new book out,” Carlson said. “If you didn’t know that, you were not alone. Nobody knew that, nobody cares. The book is called “Finding My Voice” and — we’re not being mean, just honest — it’s not even in the top 1,000 on Amazon or Barnes & Noble. It has almost no reviews, like four reviews.”

“Yet, here’s the amazing part,” he continued. “The New York Times put it 14th on the bestseller list. So a book that sold no copies made the New York Times bestseller list.”

Carlson said book industry insiders spoke to the Daily Caller News Foundation and said it was “inconceivable” that that could happen.

(After pointing out that Jarrett was “rumored to have received a million-dollar-plus advance,” the DCNF questioned whether she paid a company that helps authors buy their way onto the list.)

“So inconceivable in fact that there’s only one explanation for it: fraud,” Carlson said. “Turns out there are private companies… the companies buy an author’s book in bulk for a fee in order to guarantee bestseller status.”

“We’re not saying that happened,” Carlson noted. “We’re just strongly suggesting that it must’ve happened. Until now, Jarrett’s accomplishments in life was being friends with Barack and Michelle Obama, but now she has a new fake achievement: best-selling author. Congrats.”

Matt Margolis, author and a contributor for PJ Media, also suggested manipulation could be going on here.

“The hardcover edition currently ranks at #1,346 overall on Amazon,” he wrote of Jarrett’s book. “Last year my book, “The Worst President in History: The Legacy of Barack Obama,” reach #485 on Amazon on July 25, 2018. Guess which book ended up on the New York Times bestsellers list, and which one didn’t?”

Margolis added another book he wrote, The Scandalous Presidency of Barack Obama,” also hit #624 on Amazon and never made the N.Y. Times bestseller list.

“The sales of Jarrett’s book are clearly suspicious,” the author concluded. “But Jarrett still gets to claim herself as a New York Times bestselling author and the listing for her book has even been updated to indicate the book’s prestigious status as a bestseller.”
