Enraged libs ‘destroy their own argument’ over report Trump admin wanted to release migrants in ‘sanctuary cities’

A new report claims that President Donald Trump’s administration attempted to alleviate crowding at detention centers by releasing detained migrants into so-called sanctuary cities.

The Washington Post reported that the plan to transport the detained illegal immigrants to these locations, which are typically cities controlled by Democrats, was attempted at least twice in the past six months.

The moves, once in November amid the approach of a migrant caravan toward the U.S.-Mexico border, and again during the border wall funding clash with congressional Democrats, were allegedly in retaliation against “Trump’s political adversaries, according to Department of Homeland Security officials and email messages reviewed by The Washington Post.”

Those officials reportedly told the newspaper that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s district in San Francisco was one that was on the “target” list, which stands to reason as the liberal city boasts it has “proudly been a Sanctuary City” since 1989, and will continue to be “now, tomorrow and forever.”

According to The Washington Post:

White House officials first broached the plan in a Nov. 16 email, asking officials at several agencies whether members of the caravan could be arrested at the border and then bused “to small- and mid-sized sanctuary cities,” places where local authorities have refused to hand over illegal immigrants for deportation.

The White House told U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement that the plan was intended to alleviate a shortage of detention space but also served to send a message to Democrats. The attempt at political retribution raised alarm within ICE, with a top official responding that it was rife with budgetary and liability concerns, and noting that “there are PR risks as well.”

The legal department at ICE reportedly “rejected the idea as inappropriate and rebuffed the administration” after a second attempt in February.

“This was just a suggestion that was floated and rejected, which ended any further discussion,” a White House statement issued to the Post said.

There was no further explanation of how the move would be a retaliation since allowing the detainees to be released into the protected liberal bastions would mean they would purportedly be welcomed there.

Pelosi’s office fired off a scathing rebuke of the Trump administration in response to the report.

“The extent of this administration’s cynicism and cruelty cannot be overstated,” the California Democrat’s spokeswoman, Ashley Etienne, said. “Using human beings — including little children — as pawns in their warped game to perpetuate fear and demonize immigrants is despicable.”

The Post reiterated the retaliation narrative, citing the usual “whistleblowers” and sources speaking “on the condition of anonymity,” saying the White House “believed it could punish Democrats — including Pelosi — by busing ICE detainees into their districts before their release”

Senior Trump adviser Stephen Miller also allegedly discussed the proposal with ICE, though the Post admitted that Miller’s name did not appear on any of the documents that were reviewed. However, “as he is White House senior adviser on immigration policy, officials at ICE understood that he was pressing the plan.”

ICE’s acting deputy director, Matthew Albence, acknowledged there was a proposal made in November but asserted that he had not been pressured into complying.

“As the Acting Deputy I was not pressured by anyone at the White House on this issue. I was asked my opinion and provided it and my advice was heeded,” he said in a statement.

The left’s true colors were more than apparent in the reactions following the report, as CNN’s Jeffrey Toobin demonstrated as he accused rump of trying to use the migrants as a “pestilence to spread around the country.”

The report sparked heated backlash from liberals ironically crying that it is further proof of Trump’s monstrous disregard for public safety.

But the level of hypocrisy on overload was quickly called on on Twitter where liberals were roasted for their selective – and misplaced – outrage.
