NYU Journalism school under fire for controversial new hire, and it explains A LOT

(Government public works)

“Journalism is dead!” Fox News host Sean Hannity often says. The evidence suggests he’s right, so the question becomes “What the heck happened to journalism?”

To answer that question, one need only take a close look at those institutions of so-called “higher learner” that train journalists in their craft. Institutions such as New York University, which has hired a known left-wing liar and propagandist as an adjunct journalism professor.

According to The Wrap, left-wing propagandist Talia Lavin will begin teaching a course, “Reporting on the Far Right,” at NYU’s Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute starting next fall. A review of NYU’s website shows that she’s listed as an expert in “far-right extremism and social justice.”

She’s such an expert that she was forced to resign from The New Yorker in disgrace last year after she smeared a disabled Marine veteran as a Nazi and reportedly sicced a Twitter mob on him.

In a “fact-check” published last June, Lavin accused combat wounded U.S. Marine Justine Gaertner, a computer forensic analyst with ICE, of having a Nazi tattoo on his arm. She published the smear piece after ICE posted a tweet celebrating its HERO Child-Rescue Corps program.

“Learn more about HERO Child-Rescue Corps, a program for wounded, injured & ill Special Ops Forces to receive training in high-tech computer forensics & law enforcement skills, to assist federal agents in the fight against online child sexual exploitation,” the agency tweeted.

Look:

Pictured in the attached photo is Gaertner. And seen on his arm is an Iron Cross tattoo that Lavin falsely claimed in her “fact-check” piece was a Nazi tattoo.

Observe the social media reaction that erupted because of her “fact-check,” and note the timing of the tweets. Whereas ICE’s tweet was posted in May, these replies were posted in mid-June, which was around the time that Lavin published her repugnant smear piece.

Look:

Congratulations, Lavin, on your outstanding journalism …

To be fair, she issued a half-ass apology after her smear was exposed and ICE called her out:

HERE’S WHAT YOU’RE MISSING …

But it’s clear she learned nothing from the ordeal. The evidence? The fact that less than a month after her resignation from The New Yorker, she picked up a job with Media Matters, a left-wing propaganda outfit that specializes in smearing anyone who fails to toe the Democrat Party line.

And now, less than a year later, propaganda/smear expert Talia Lavin is getting rea yto begin teaching so-called “journalism” to students at one of the nation’s top “journalism” schools.

It’s unbelievable …

The hiring by NYU does demonstrate two things, though. First, journalism is indeed dead, and so-called “journalism” schools like NYU killed it. Second, this is why conservatives aren’t fans of colleges and universities. It’s not that they’re against education. They’re merely against indoctrination.

And sorry, but allowing  a left-wing propagandist to teach a “journalism” course about alleged “far-right extremism and social justice” is the height of indoctrination, plain and simple.

The latter user had a great point. NYU was indeed where a far-left radical harassed Chelsea Clinton last week over her mild criticisms of anti-Semitic congresswoman Ilhan Omar.
