The Kansas Department of Transportation came under fire and terminated an employee after President Trump was slammed as a “delusional communist” in a since-deleted tweet.

The Twitter account for the agency’s south central Kansas department posted – and later deleted – the attack on Trump shortly after the president lashed out at Fox News anchors including Shepard Smith, suggesting they go work for CNN.

“You’re a delusional Communist,” the account tweeted Sunday. “You know it’s Communist countries that try to control media, right?”

Republicans slammed the tweet and called for the responsible person to be fired.

The Kansas Republican Party questioned Democratic Gov. Laura Kelly’s bipartisanship in a statement saying her staff is “too busy attacking President Trump on the Kansas taxpayer’s dime.”

State Rep. J.R. Claeys invited the KDOT to “feel free” to call his office for “advice before Republicans pounce.”

“Today a KDOT employee sent a tweet from our SC Kansas KDOT Twitter account,” KDOT Acting Secretary Julie Lorenz said in a statement, according to The Wichita Eagle.

“The tweet has been deleted from the KDOT account as it does not reflect the views of KDOT or the Administration and was an unacceptable use of state communication tools. The person who sent the tweet is no longer an employee of KDOT,” Lorenz added.

Ashley All, a spokeswoman for Kelly, agreed that the tweet was “absolutely unacceptable” according to The Wichita Eagle.

Claeys retweeted KDOT’s statement, questioning their decision on the person who “was fired for being against Communism.”

Trump fired off multiple tweets on Sunday urging Fox News to “stop working soooo hard on being politically correct” and to “Bring back @JudgeJeanine Pirro,” after her weekly news program, “Justice with Judge Jeanine,” was preempted.

Though it was not clear what prompted the tweet by the president which the KDOT had responded to, he lashed out on Sunday at Shepard Smith, along with Fox News weekend anchors, Arthel Neville and Leland Vittert, wondering if they were “trained by CNN.”
