While the events that transpired in New Zealand on Friday were horrific and deserved to be condemned, the American mainstream media’s focus on those attacks specifically versus the myriads of attacks that occur daily across the world seems odd and perhaps even telling.

According to a report published Friday by The Christian Post, this week the governor of Nigeria’s Kaduna state imposed a dusk-to-dawn curfew on his constituents because of a recent rash of attacks against the state’s mostly Christian residents by Muslim herdsmen.

“At least 120 people have been killed by alleged Fulani militant attacks since February in the Kaduna state of Nigeria with the latest attacks on Monday resulting in the deaths of over 50 and the destruction of more than 140 homes,” the Post reported.

“On Monday, 52 people were killed, dozens injured and around 143 homes were destroyed in attacks on the villages of Inkirimi, Dogonnoma and Ungwan Gora in the Maro district of the Kajuru Local Government Area.”

This story received zero coverage by the media. Such attacks have been occurring for a while.

One rash of attacks happened last month:

On Saturday another attack in the Kaduna village of Nandu-Gbok left an additional 10 dead.

“We were woken up by heavy gunshots, there was confusion, everybody was running to the bush. They set houses ablaze. Ten people were killed, some people were burnt to death, many others were injured, some people are still missing,” an unnamed witness confirmed with Nigerian media.

The American mainstream media is not covering this attack. Nor did anyone in the media pay attention when “Fulani herdsmen, who are mostly Muslim, attacked six predominantly Christian villages in Nigeria’s Plateau state” last June, as reported by the Christian Broadcasting Network. “Many of those killed were Christians, and they were reportedly hacked to death.”

The American mainstream media also didn’t pay attention when Open Doors, a non-denominational Christian organization that provides support to persecuted Christians, released its annual “World Watch List” of Christian persecution this past Wednesday.

“According to Open Doors’ 2019 World Watch List — an in-depth investigative report focusing on global Christian persecution — persecution is increasing at an alarming rate,” the group announced in a press release. “Research for the List indicates that each day, a staggering 11 Christians are killed for their faith in the top 50 countries ranked on the World Watch List.”

Why though does the media ignore this growing anti-Christian hatred? Because of narratives.

In the case of the New Zealand attacks, they were committed by white nationalists against two Muslim mosques. The media has long claimed that President Donald Trump and his supporters — including even the black ones — are white nationalists. Now guess what the attacks gave the media …

Another chance to accuse him of being a nationalist.

“I believe Donald Trump is a white nationalist,” CNN political commentator Symone Sanders said Friday. “I believe he has allied himself with white supremacist ideology for the very reason, given the policies he has advocated for. He said, just in the remarks in Oval Office, that invaders are coming, these criminals. He is other people, and that type of language is dangerous.”

She and others in the demonstrably left-wing media are angry that Trump, who was busy Friday trying to protect the southern U.S. border, didn’t come out with a forceful statement condemning the white supremacy espoused by the killers in New Zealand.

Never mind that the president did take the time to issue several statements via Twitter expressing sympathy and “best wishes” for the Muslim victims in New Zealand:

The president has also previously tweeted about the murder of Christians throughout the world:

Christians are in fact the most persecuted religious group on Earth. Now type this into Google and see how many mainstream media outlets show up: “Christians most persecuted religious group.”

Save for Fox News, the search results are devoid of mainstream sources:

Is this a coincidence, or is this endemic of something more — something like perhaps hypocrisy?
