‘A lot of nerve!’ No one can stop talking about Elizabeth Warren’s ‘tone deaf’ take on college admissions scandal

“She has a lot of nerve!”

This pithy sentiment spread throughout social media like a wildfire Wednesday after Democrat presidential candidate Sen. Elizabeth Warren responded to the college admissions “bribing” scandal by telling “Morning Joe” co-host Mika Brzezinski that she has no sympathy for the perpetrators.

“Zero,” she quickly replied that morning when Brzezinski asked her, “So as a parent, how much sympathy would you have for these parents who are embroiled in this alleged cheating scandal?”

Listen:

To be clear, there’s nothing wrong with feeling “zero” sympathy for the wealthy parents who used bribes to get their otherwise undeserving children accepted into the nation’s top universities.

It’s just that as “the poster child for fraud in higher education,” as Fox News host Sean Hannity accurately put it Wednesday evening, Warren has no room to talk or judge.

She is, as he pointed out on “Hannity,” the same woman who “lied on her Texas bar registration, probably lied to most of her employers in higher education, Harvard, telling them she was Native American, literally faking what her race and background was to gain an advantage.”

Correct.

When Warren’s tenure as a high-paid professor of law at Harvard University began in 1995, the university reportedly listed her as an American Indian. Why? Because as she herself admitted seven years ago, when she applied for the gig she listed herself as exactly that, an American Indian.

When she applied to the State Bar of Texas for her license a year later, she falsely identified herself as a Native American. A recent DNA test found that she’s a standard white woman.

Because of additional concerns vis-à-vis how Warren may have benefited from this false label, and because of her repeated refusal to be completely candid about her past, last month Republican National Committee requested that the State Bar of Texas discipline her.

Continuing his monologue, Hannity noted that Warren’s hypocrisy and lack of self-awareness become a defining trait of the contemporary Democrat Party. He wasn’t wrong.

Listen:

By no means has Hannity been the only one to slam Warren. Since her remarks Wednesday morning, she’s essentially become the talk of the town, with everybody from Fox News journalists such as Bret Baier to President Donald Trump’s son jumping into the fray.

Again, there’s nothing innately wrong with having no sympathy for the dozens of wealthy parents — most of them Hollywood elites such as Felicity Huffman and Lori Loughlin — who used bribes and frauds to get their kids enrolled in top schools at the expense of more deserving candidates.

It’s just that Warren is so blissfully unaware that she’d pulled a very similar stunt in the past. It speaks to the lack of self awareness that plagues the entire Democrat Party. Though teeming with uber-wealthy elites (many of them conspicuously white) who live in fancy mansions and travel on private jets, the party goes out of its way to portray itself as a champion of the working class.

Like one Twitter user noted, it’s as if the party’s motto is “do as I say, not as I do.”

Worse, the party argues that its socialist policies would somehow better the lives of the working class. That same argument was posited years earlier in defense of Obamacare. And now thanks to that failed law, the working class must pay exorbitant premiums for the most basic care.

Yet Democrats continue to claim they are the ones trying to provide healthcare to all Americans, while Republicans are the ones trying to throw grandma off the cliff.

It’s this lack of self awareness of which Warren is the perfect exemplar:
