Imagine the media uproar if President Donald Trump implied Rep. Ilham Omar, D-Minn., was not human.
Yet, that is precisely what the newly elected anti-Semitic lawmaker said about the president when a reporter asked her to clarify her comments comparing Trump to former President Barack Obama.
Omar, one of the first two Muslim women elected to Congress in November, was approached by Fox News reporter Guerin Hays as she exited her office. Hays asked her about her criticism of Obama in an interview with Politico, where she criticized his policies on immigration and the use of drones, calling him a “pretty face” who was able to “get away with murder.”
“Do you think President Obama is the same as President Trump?” Hays asked.
“Absolutely not,” Omar eventually answered, with a sneer on her face. “That’s silly to even think and equate the two, one is human the other is not.”
Which is to suggest that President Trump is not human.
Regarding the Politico interview, Omar said that while it’s right to criticize Trump and his policies, the “ways that our Democratic leaders have conducted themselves within the system is not one that we are all proud of.”
As she saw it, the party ostensibly committed to progressive values had become complicit in perpetuating the status quo. Omar says the “hope and change” offered by Barack Obama was a mirage. Recalling the “caging of kids” at the U.S.-Mexico border and the “droning of countries around the world” on Obama’s watch, she argues that the Democratic president operated within the same fundamentally broken framework as his Republican successor.
“We can’t be only upset with Trump. … His policies are bad, but many of the people who came before him also had really bad policies. They just were more polished than he was,” Omar says. “And that’s not what we should be looking for anymore. We don’t want anybody to get away with murder because they are polished. We want to recognize the actual policies that are behind the pretty face and the smile.”
Almost comically, Omar tweeted that Politico reporter Tim Alberta had distorted her words, saying she recorded the interview and providing a link to the audio.
Turns out, the audio confirmed that while her remarks were edited for brevity, the gist of what Alberta reported was accurate.
The not quite ready for prime time Democrat would later delete the tweet after much ridicule.
Omar appears to share a similar trait with Rep. Alexander Ocasio-Cortez, the dimwit socialist Democrat from New York, that being a tendency to stumble headlong into one controversy after another.
After all, the ink is barely dry on last week’s (watered down) resolution introduced by her own party to denounce hate following her recent anti-Semitic remark about dual loyalty, which was followed by the backlash over her criticism of Obama.
Here’s a quick sampling of responses from Twitter:
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez suggests Republicans are the enemy of the United States
Rep. Ilhan Omar said that President Donald Trump was "not human" today
The comments from these far-left lawmakers comes after Congress had to pass a resolution last week condemning their hate https://t.co/A6MYl53eYv

She’s a gift for the republicans. If I’m a republican politician I’m praying the media keeps a microphone in front of Omar and AOC
