First lady Melania Trump, wearing a stunning navy blue dress, was beaming Tuesday as she joined former Fox News host Eric Bolling at a town hall meeting on the opioid crisis.
The event, held at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino, was part of Mrs. Trump’s “Be Best” initiative.
The town hall is the final stop of Trump’s three-state tour promoting a campaign that highlights children’s well-being, cyberbullying and opioid abuse.
“It remains our generation’s moral imperative to take responsibility and help our children manage the many issues they are facing today, including encouraging positive social, emotional, and physical habits,” the first lady said when launching the effort.
On Monday, the first lady met with school children in Oklahoma and paid a visit to the Microsoft headquarters in Washington state for demonstrations of new technology and safety programs centering on X-Box parental controls and adaptive controllers for disabled kids, ABC News reported.
Bolling lost his son, Eric Chase Bolling, 19, on Sept. 8, 2018 after an accidental opioid overdose — according to the TV personality, his son bought Xanax on the street that was laced with Fentanyl.
“I didn’t see any signs. I knew he was going to the University of Colorado, marijuana is legal in Colorado, not at his age but it’s still legal and very accessible,” he told Law & Crime Network in an interview.
“When he was in high school, he drank and sometimes you’d smell some weed in the basement,” he recalled. “We had a thousand talks about the dangers of hard drugs. A thousand talks. And he’d always say, ‘Dad, I got this. Dad, I got this.'”
The first lady issued a challenge to the media obsessed with destroying her husband, President Donald Trump, asking them to dedicate as much time to the opioid crisis as they do “to idle gossip or trivial stories” — a likely response to the testimony of the president’s former personal attorney Michael Cohen.
I’d also like to take a moment to challenge the media to cover this very real issue as often as possible,” Trump said. “In 2017, we lost at least 72,000 Americans to overdoses — that’s 197 lost American lives per day — more than eight lost-lives-per-hour. I challenge the press to devote as much time to the lives lost, and the potential lives that could be saved, by dedicating the same amount of coverage that you do to idle gossip or trivial stories.”
As for her outfit, in addition to the long-sleeve dress and a classy belt, the first lady was rocking her traditional stiletto heels.
Navy blue, of course.
The first lady took to Twitter afterwards to thank Bolling for the invitation.
“Proud of the work that is being done all across our nation to fight the opioid crisis,” she tweeted. “Thank you to @EricBolling for inviting me to talk about this important issue. #BeBest will continue to promote programs that help address this crisis.”
