‘God bless Chris Wallace’: MSNBC’s singing his praises, Fox News host may want to re-assess

Watching Fox News host Chris Wallace plying his trade lately on “Fox News Sunday” may leave viewers with the notion he’s working hard to impress liberal colleagues in the media.

And when those liberals start praising Wallace, well, not only is it a good sign that he’s succeeding in his quest, it should also serve as notice to the Fox News host that he may want to reassess his approach.

Case in point, MSNBC’s Jonathan Capehart praised Wallace after Sunday’s interview of White House senior adviser Stephen Miller on President Trump‘s declaration of a national emergency on the southern border.

“AM Joy” played a clip of Wallace asking Miller to name a case where a president has asked Congress for money, Congress has refused and the president then invoked national powers to get the money anyway.

(Never mind that there’s a big hole in Wallace’s premise, that being Congress did, in fact, give Trump $1.3 billion for wall funding.)

Miller fell back on the National Emergencies Act, which was passed in 1976, to justify the president’s actions.

Anchor Joy Reid and Capehart decreed that Miller was ill-prepared, but Capehart went even further, heaping praise on Wallace for endeavoring so hard to expose the president’s actions as being unwarranted.

“That’s the thing. You’re like, ‘Oh my God, the teacher got me and I have no answer,'” Capehart said. “I always make fun of Fox News and call it the state media for Earth-2 and everything, but God bless Chris Wallace — I almost said Chris Matthews.”

“God bless Chris Wallace for making sure that Earth-1 logic and facts penetrate the audience so they can hopefully listen and hear that the wall has not been built, that there has been no previous example no matter how many times the President says that President Obama did it and other presidents did it. No, they haven’t.”

Of course, this is the progressive left in a nutshell.

Because Miller did not follow the line of questioning that Wallace wanted to pursue, opting instead to communicate his message — which is the whole reason he’s on the show and the very crux of what any spokesperson should attempt to do — the liberal zealots equate that to not being smart enough to answer the question.

Hell, dodging questions is the very essence of politics… and no one does it better than Democrats.

But Wallace did more to earn the left’s praise when he fell back on a popular tactic of the liberal media in the interview, questioning whether a crisis actually exists on the southern border by noting that illegal crossings were down significantly from the year 2000.

Wallace also tried this heavy-handed approach with talk radio host Rush Limbaugh in a separate interview Sunday, evoking the Constitution to ask his guest, “Do you really have no problem with President Trump declaring a national emergency?”

Limbaugh proceeded to school Wallace on why he does not have a problem with it.

“It is undeniable that we have a major immigration problem and a political party that needs a permanent underclass of voters that wants that parade of illegal people who are uneducated, don’t even speak the language – they want them here,” he said.
