Eric Holder of “Fast and Furious” fame admitted that not getting more “sane” gun control legislation passed was his biggest failure as U.S. Attorney General.
Holder, who became the nation’s first African-American attorney general and served under former President Barack Obama for six years, told an audience at an event at Drake University Law School in Des Moines Tuesday that “gun safety legislation” was the one thing he wished he was able to get done during his tenure.

Mulling over a 2020 Democratic presidential run, the career prosecutor who was cited for contempt of Congress in 2012, told the audience at the Harkin Institute for Public Policy and Citizen Engagement about his “biggest failure.”

The irony of Holder’s regrets about gun safety, illegal guns or the selling of guns was not lost on social media users who took the former AG on a trip down memory lane.

Holder, who challenged Republicans to a “knife fight” and declared that he and other Democrats were ready to”rumble” ahead of the 2018 midterm elections, holds the dubious honor of being the only cabinet member in U.S. history to be held in contempt of Congress for refusing to release documents to the House Oversight Committee that pertained to the failed Justice Department sting operation known as Fast and Furious. The program allowed approximately 2,000 weapons from the U.S. to pass into the hands of suspected Mexican gun smugglers.
The U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives lost track of most of the firearms in the gunrunning program which allowed criminals to buy weapons so they could be tracked. Two of those guns were found at the scene of US Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry’s death in 2010.

Heraclio Osorio-Arellanes was convicted of first-degree murder and other charges Tuesday, found guilty of killing Terry over eight years ago, according to Fox News.
Holder was slammed on Twitter over his remarks about “sane” gun laws in light of his legacy under Obama.
