Co-author of AOC’s Green New Deal pummeled with mockery when he complains McConnell is bringing his bill to a vote

Sen. Ed Markey, the co-author of congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s “Green New Deal,” is raving mad that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is taking the deal seriously.

After the Senate leader announced Tuesday that he plans to hold a vote on the so-called “Green New Deal,” Markey took to Twitter to complain about alleged sabotage.

The irony was not lost on social media users, who’ve been pummeling him with nonstop mockery for kvetching about his colleagues voting on something he wrote.

Look:

Note how he complained about McConnell “rushing a vote.”

But why would a rush be bad? According to him and AOC, only 12 or so years remain before the entire Earth becomes an inhabitable wasteland because of man-made climate change.

“I think that the part of it that is generational is that millennials and people, in Gen Z, and all these folks that come after us are looking up and we’re like, the world is gonna end in 12 years if we don’t address climate change,” AOC said at an MLK Day event last month.

“And your biggest issue is, your biggest issue is how are we going to pay for it? And like this is the war, this is our World War II,” she added, pushing back against criticism regarding her proposal’s cost.

Keep in mind that she — and Markey, presumably — really believe this crap. Yet the senator is upset because McConnell’s “rushing a vote” on their plan to save the world? That doesn’t sound right. Nor the radical and economically unfeasible “Green New Deal,” for that matter.

Released last Thursday, the plan calls for outlawing air travel, combustion-engine vehicles, nuclear energy, fossil fuel energy, meat and farting cows — as well as guarantying everybody a job (assuming they want one), in addition to free education, free healthcare, free housing, etc.

Rolling out the plan would require a total and unequivocal government takeover — or what AOC would rather call “government intervention.” It’d likewise cost an estimated 8,000 times more than it’d take for President Donald Trump to secure the southern U.S. border.

The deal is so outrageous that even House Speaker Nancy Pelosi dismissed it as a “Green New Dream” and snubbed AOC by not assigning her to serve on the Select Committee on the Climate Crisis.

Yet Markey and Ocasio-Cortez released the plan anyway, so what did they expect? While that remains unclear, what’s obvious is Markey (and perhaps AOC as well) is scared to death of the deal actually being held up to the light for scrutiny, as noted by social media:

His fear is admittedly understandable given that even America’s far-left unions want nothing to do with his and AOC’s radical and patently insane plan.

“Labor unions are warning that the “Green New Deal” proposed by Democratic New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is vague and potentially dangerous, signaling that the progressive proposal may be in for even more turbulence following a rocky rollout last week,” Fox News reported.

That’s a shame.
