Chris Pratt fired back at Ellen Page after the actress slammed him for being part of a church that is “infamously anti-LGBTQ.”
The “Jurassic World actor took to his Instagram to inform Page that “nothing could be further from the truth” about her criticism of the Los Angeles-based Zoe Church.
The outspoken liberal actress declared herself the moral judge over Pratt’s outspoken faith and his church after he spoke about completing a 21-day fast inspired by the Biblical prophet Daniel while on “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert” last week.

“Oh. K. Um. But his church is infamously anti lgbtq so maybe address that too?” Page had tweeted in response to a Hollywood Reporter story on Pratt’s interview.
Pratt called out the claims on Instagram on Monday.
“It has recently been suggested that I belong to a church which ‘hates a certain group of people’ and is ‘infamously anti-LGBTQ.’ Nothing could be further from the truth. I go to a church that opens their doors to absolutely everyone,” the 39-year-old actor wrote.

“Despite what the Bible says about divorce my church community was there for me every step of the way, never judging, just gracefully accompanying me on my walk,” Pratt said, referring to his divorce from Anna Faris last year.
“They helped me tremendously offering love and support. It is what I have seen them do for others on countless occasions regardless of sexual orientation, race or gender,” he added about the evangelical church.
“My values define who I am,” the “Guardians of the Galaxy” actor continued. “We need less hate in this world, not more. I am a man who believes that everyone is entitled to love who they want free from the judgment of their fellow man.”
Page, who didn’t pose the anti-LGBTQ question to members of other faiths such as Islam, was called out on social media for attempting to shame Pratt, who is beloved by fans and openly shares his Christian faith. She doubled down in tweets following, claiming “there aren’t two sides” to the issue while calling on others to “try and listen” to the LGBTQ community.
If you are a famous actor and you belong to an organization that hates a certain group of people, don’t be surprised if someone simply wonders why it’s not addressed. Being anti LGBTQ is wrong, there aren’t two sides. The damage it causes is severe. Full stop. Sending love to all

If lgbtq+ people are expressing their pain, their trauma, their experiences…maybe just try and listen? Open your heart, stop being defensive and have compassion. It’s a beautiful and life changing feeling, empathy.
Much love truly to all.— Ellen Page (@EllenPage) February 9, 2019
Pratt concluded his Instagram message by explaining what guides him in his life and how hate has no place in it.
“Jesus said, ‘I give you a new command, love one another,'” he wrote. “This is what guides me in my life. He is a God of Love, Acceptance and Forgiveness. Hate has no place in my or this world.”
While Pratt was lauded for his civil response, the debate played out on social media. But many came to the actor’s defense and condemned the attacks that he did nothing to deserve.
You might as well start going after every single person in every single religion in this country, because most religions have this view and some even have even more intolerant/extremist views of lgbtq and women especially.

Wait a second…there is still freedom of religion, right??? Why is this even an issue? All religions including the Jewish, Muslim, etc have issues with lgtbq. Some people attend their services and agree with some things while disagreeing with other parts. Still..respect views.

This is such BS!! If she had a problem with the church, she should have called out the church! Not someone who attends the church who happens to be a celebrity and is now being bombarded left and right when he didn’t actually SAY or DO anything!! @prattprattpratt IGNORE the hate!

Good for Chris! Suffering Hollywood discrimination AGAIN. ONLY Christians are allowed to be discriminated against. Shame on Hollywood

Ellen, mind your own business and stop judging.
So hateful.— DRB ♎? (@DRBVGB) February 12, 2019
Ellen Page can take a flying leap. Christianity has ALWAYS said homosexuality is wrong. If she wants a religion that accepts her lifestyle…she can start one.

I don’t understand the backlash he’s getting. He’s just defending the church he attends. The actual church. Can’t recall an instance where he’s shamed someone for their differences. Good for him for believing in something.

She can have her values. She doesn’t get to dictate anyone else’s.
