Bloomingdale’s pulled a T-shirt from its stores and apologized to anyone who may have found the garment to be “distressing.”
The offending shirt, emblazoned with the phrase “FAKE NEWS,” was removed from the department store and was no longer available online, Fox News reported.

The top “was immediately removed from our selling floor and we apologize to anyone who found this t-shirt distressing,” a spokesperson for Bloomingdales told Fox News on Monday.
Allison Kaden, a reporter for WPIX, called attention to the shirt at a store in White Plains, New York in a tweet on Sunday, telling the retailer it wasn’t “funny or fashionable,” and that it “delegitimizes hard working journalists.”
Hey @Bloomingdales, this isn’t funny or fashionable. It further delegitimizes hard working journalists who bring REAL news to their communties. pic.twitter.com/NedoHMAZfs

Bloomingdale’s, which was founded in 1861, thanked Kaden for “taking the time to alert us” and promised it would be taking action.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention and we apologize for any offense we may have caused. We take this feedback very seriously and are working quickly to remove this t-shirt. Again, thank you for taking the time to alert us.

There were plenty of snowflakes joining Kaden’s offended rant to the department store chain, up in arms about President Donald Trump’s catchphrase for negative news coverage.
Hi, @bloomingdales. Apologizing “for any offense we may have caused” is not a sincere apology. This is not about journalists’ hurt feelings. This is about damage done to our democracy when your brand joins in perpetuating and celebrating the idea of “fake news.” Please try again.

1) Things like this undermine the authority & legitimacy of journalism. Journalism is essential for a healthy society & democracy. You can criticize certain journalists or outlets, but when you undermine journalism in general, it becomes dangerous. This would be the equivalence..

But many Twitter users felt the outrage should be directed at journalists and their “fear” of phrases on clothing.
It must really suck to be offended by a t-shirt, even worse, having to actually read about someone being offended by a t-shirt and get offended.
And where are all these journalists with integrity she speaks of?

For American journalists who are supposedly so “brave,” they sure get offended by the silliest things! We nurses are threatened with physical violence all the time, but for American journalists they fear…. clothing. ?

Ick? Yeah, I guess free speech and differing viewpoints make some people feel “icky”.
If only we had a term for that……
Oh wait. We do: snowflake.#Team_1776

Not surprisingly, the left’s pearl-clutching only seemed to have the opposite effect.
I want one

Thank you @Bloomingdales I’m going on line and buying one right now

Remove it?? Shoot…you’d better ramp up your production of that shirt because you’re about to get a massive number of requests for it. This outrage never works out the way they want it to. https://t.co/mctAiguVUE
