‘Who wants to tell him?’ Joe Scarborough cluelessly claims ‘Green New Deal’ doesn’t reflect consensus of Dems

MSNBC “Morning Joe” co-host Joe Scarborough was working overtime Friday morning trying to run interference for any sensible Democrats that might exist in the wake of Bronx dimwit Rep. Alexandra Ocasio Cortez releasing her “Green New Deal.”

The newly elected New York Democrat’s radical climate change plan calls for net-zero greenhouse gas emissions in 10 years and looks to essentially rebuild every building in America and even eliminate air travel.

The plan proposed by Ocasio-Cortez and Sen. Ed Markey, D-Mass., was so disastrous that Wall Street Journal’s Kimberley Strassel said it resembled a parody of a plan some Republicans might have put out to ridicule Democrats.

And this is where Scarborough comes into play.

Taking to Twitter, the MSNBC host quoted Speaker Nancy Pelosi seemingly mocking the “green dream” to say the whackadoodle plan doesn’t reflect the consensus of the Democrat Party.

Scarborough tweeted Friday morning: “Right-wing commentators continue obsessively reporting on @AOC and claiming she reflects the consensus of Democrats. Nonsense. It is Nancy Pelosi’s party. Full Stop.

The problem with that assessment is a bevy of 2020 Democratic presidential candidate hopefuls rushed to embrace the New Green Deal introduced by Ocasio-Cortez — who was called the “future of our party” not all that long go by DNC chair Tom Perez.

One of those candidates, Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., went so far as to co-sponsor the legislation.

Legislation that, according to an overview, would offer “economic security” to those “unwilling to work.”

Other 2020 Democratic hopefuls who jumped on board include Sen. Cory Booker, from New Jersey, Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts and Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand from New York. Rep. Beto O’Rourke, the failed senatorial candidate from Texas, also supports the “Green New Deal.”

Enough to prompt Fox News senior political analyst Brit Hume to sarcastically tweet: “It’s getting crowded out on that limb.”

But it doesn’t reflect the consensus of the Democratic Party, Joe?

Perhaps Scarborough doesn’t quite get the hard-left progressive makeup of today’s Democratic Party?

One social media user shared a number of screenshots of other Democrats who support the New Green Deal. “I got tired of doing screenshots last night. There’s a lot of big D names here. Seems to be…um…a consensus,” the tweet read.

Heck, even Ocasio-Cortez disputed Scarborough’s take in trying to defend her plan, touting that it “nets 70 House cosponsors on Day 1 and all Dem presidential candidates sign on anyway.”

Here’s a sampling from Twitter of other responses to Scarborough’s tweet defending the Democratic Party:
