Democrats rolled out their disastrous “Green New Deal” and sent many, like the Wall Street Journal’s Kimberley Strassel, into spasms of disbelief.
The columnist joined countless colleagues in mocking the radical legislation proposed by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Sen. Ed Markey which calls for net-zero greenhouse gas emissions in 10 years, effectively eliminating all fossil fuel energy production as well as nuclear energy, basically rebuilding every building in America and making air travel unnecessary.

Strassel, a member of The Wall Street Journal’s editorial board, admitted that after reviewing the details shared by Ocasio-Cortez Thursday, she “was laughing so hard I nearly cried.”
1) By the end of the Green New Deal resolution (and accompanying fact sheet) I was laughing so hard I nearly cried. If a bunch of GOPers plotted to forge a fake Democratic bill showing how bonkers the party is, they could not have done a better job. It is beautiful. #GreenNewDeal

Strassel continued her breakdown of the bill in a series of tweets that followed, assessing the plan that earned the support of nearly every Democratic 2020 presidential candidate including Senators Kamala Harris and Elizabeth Warren while getting slammed on social media.

She contended that delivering the necessary equipment and facilities that the deal required for “renewable electricity” would account for more space than all of the entire state of California.

“I would love to understand this logic,” Strassel tweeted after laying out some of the plan’s ambitious proposals, such as electrical charging stations being placed “everywhere” and single-payer health care.
3) Also, AOC would put charging stations “everywhere,” upgrade or tear down “every building” in the country (homes and businesses), install high-speed rail across every state, upgrade all our infrastructure. (Maybe once Ds allow permitting reform? LOL. LOL. LOL.)

4)Somehow, government-run healthcare, “family sustainable” wages, paid leave, and “affordable” housing are also “required” for a clean economy. I would love to understand this logic. (And imagine what wages will need to be to pay for billion-dollar-per-kilowatt electricity)

Strassel noted, with tongue firmly planted in cheek, that a “key part” found in the accompanying “fact sheet,” explained exactly why fossil fuels could not immediately be eliminated.

6) Planes run on fossil fuel. No fossil fuel, no visits to granny. Cows produce methane, why alarmists want to get rid of livestock. She can’t do it “fully” in 10 years, but AOC is coming after ur air miles and bacon. This is honesty about how Ds wud micromanage private life.

Like many of her journalistic colleagues, Strassel questioned how the socialist dream plan would be funded, sharing the legislation’s incredible solution: print more money.
