Lou Dobbs grills RNC chair Ronna McDaniel over RINOs: ‘What’s going on with your Party?’

Much like President Donald Trump, Fox Business Network host Lou Dobbs has no qualms about being brutally honest in regard to the “RINOs” in the GOP who’ve “sold out” to the establishment.

He made this abundantly clear during a discussion Monday on FBN’s “Lou Dobbs Tonight” with Republican National Committee chair Ronna McDaniel. In fact, the first words out his mouth were “What is going on with your party!?”

“Just about the time this president has garnered the nation’s attention on the crisis that is at our border, you’ve got Mitch McConnell peddling a bunch of establishment K Street nonsense — oh, we can’t declare a national emergency just because there’s a national emergency.”

Reports emerged this week that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has urged President Donald Trump to not declare a national emergency on the basis that it may divide the GOP.

“Ronna, what’s going on?” Dobbs incredulously added.

Listen to part one of the back-and-forth discussion below:

“This is why the president came to Washington,” McDaniel replied. “He saw that the bureaucracy of Washington was broken, that they couldn’t get things done that they were promising the American people. And he saw the escalation of our crisis at the border, and he said enough is enough, and I’m going to come to Washington,  and we’re going to get things done finally.”

Because of congressional Democrats’ stubborn refusal to fund the construction of a southern U.S. border wall, the president has been considering declaring a national emergency to bypass congressional authority. But his critics in the GOP worry that this strategy would set a dangerous precedent that Democrats could then exploit the next time they obtain control of the White House.

While these critics have mostly expressed their consternation privately thus far, these complaints would likely be aired publicly were Trump to go ahead and declare a national emergency. This is reportedly the primary reason McConnell warned Trump against it.

But as noted by noted by Dobbs, it’s a lousy excuse.

“We’re talking about 30 years of can-kicking,” he said, referencing the decades that have passed by as the Republican Party has done virtually nothing to secure the border and stop the flow of illegal immigrants flooding into communities across the states.

“Those are presidents, those are senators and those are congressmen who’ve sold out to the establishment, the RINOs in the Republican Party, the Dems pursuing their left-wing agenda, and to hell with the working men and women and their families, the middle class, those who aspire to it. This president was elected to represent those very people who’ve been ignored for three decades in this country.”

And part of the reason that nearly 63 million Americans voted Trump into office three years ago was because of his promise to finally put a permanent halt to illegal immigration.

“Your party, whether it is Jeff Flake, Mitt Romney, whether it is Mitch McConnell or Paul Ryan — Ronna, do you ever just pick up the phone and say, ‘Fella, maybe you need to come to your senses and get with the party?'” Dobbs then asked.

While McDaniel never answered the question, she did reiterate the host’s point that Trump was elected into office to stop illegal immigration, to stop drug smuggling and to stop sex trafficking.

“It is putting our safety at risk when we have drugs crossing our border at the level it is. When you have human trafficking. Think about that. People being trafficked into our country to be put in as sex slaves. That’s horrific. Isn’t that worth $5.7 billion to make sure not one woman has to deal with that?” she said.

Dobbs fervently disagreed.

“No!” he replied. “It’s worth about $30 bilion to get the wall built now. And not 200 miles of the wall. The entire border needs to be secured. This is not a political game.”

He added that there’s no reason for the president to even negotiate with Democrats about funding for the wall, given as America’s national security is a nonnegotiable issue.

Many Americans agree:

“I’m worried about the Republican party and Senator McConnell and Paul Ryan. I’m worried about the entire Republican establishment, because they look sold out, Ronna. They look sold out,” Dobbs concluded later in the program.

Former House Speaker Paul Ryan is actually no longer a congressman, but the host was correct to imply that his negative influence still remains.
