Mexican authorities have reportedly caught a dangerous migrant fugitive trying to blend in with the newest caravan headed to the United States.
Authorities in the southern Mexico state of Chiapas reported the arrest of a 19-year-old described as a dangerous Salvadoran gang enforcer and a member of the 18th Street gang, according to the attorney general’s office as reported by Breitbart News.
Amílcar Orlando “N” – also known as “The Junior, Mala Cría or Hellboy,” had warrants out for “aggravated homicide, illegal deprivation of liberty, aggravated extortion, illicit groupings and possession of narcotics.”
Orlando was apprehended in Tapachula, Chiapas, near the Guatemala border, as he attempted to blend in with members of the caravan headed north. El Salvador’s’ gang unit and other agencies worked together with state authorities in identifying the fugitive who was then handed to Mexico’s National Immigration Institute to be deported.
President Donald Trump continues to stand by his promise to protect Americans from criminals looking to enter the country illegally, even as Democrats and other liberals blast him for a “manufactured crisis” at the border. Despite Border Patrol agents and other experts agreeing with the president about the effectiveness of a barrier wall and immigration reforms, Democrats continue to dig in against the need to secure the nation’s southern border.
Last week, police in Honduras arrested one of the new migrant caravan’s organizers on charges of rape. Juan Carlos Molina was reportedly one of the key promoters of the Honduran caravan and was arrested at the bus station in San Pedro Sula where the latest caravan departed, Breitbart News reported. The 26-year-old, who had a warrant from a 2015 rape investigation, was carrying fake forms of identification when he was arrested.
The border gates between Mexico and Guatemala were rushed by hundreds of migrants just days ago as they broke the locks and crossed the border. Rather than arrest the illegally entering migrants, estimated by Mexico’s National Coordinator for Civil Protection David De Leon as numbering about 800, Mexican authorities provided police protection and escorted them north.
The latest incident involving the Salvadoran gang enforcer arrested on rape charges drew heated reaction from Twitter users.
