Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., in office just over a week, is really feeling her oats.
The proud democratic socialist is already drawing push back from members of her party’s caucus for “sniping” at fellow Democrats, and now she is turning her ire on the media — which some would argue is little more than an extension of the party’s campaign apparatus.
With Speaker Nancy Pelosi dissing Ocasio-Cortez when she handed out committee assignments, despite a push from the 29-year-old lawmaker’s followers, the socialist has appointed herself diversity queen, calling out CBS News for its announced 2020 election team not having an African-American reporter.
“This WH admin has made having a functional understanding of race in America one of the most important core competencies for a political journalist to have, yet [CBS News] hasn’t assigned a *single* black journalist to cover the 2020 election,” Ocasio-Cortez said in a tweet.
“Unacceptable in 2019. Try again.”

Her dictate coming in response to a tweet from Ben Mitchell, an associate producer at CBS News, who announced the network’s 12-person strong 2020 election team.
Perhaps Ocasio-Cortez didn’t get the memo that affirmative action died a slow death, but the more interesting aspect is whether she has enough power to force CBS News to alter its team — there’ll be no living with her if they do.
With a penchant for tweeting and 2.35 million followers, Ocasio-Cortez is being compared to President Trump, as seen in a tweet from National Journal editor Josh Kraushaar, who called attention to a similarity with the president: “media scold.”
Ocasio-Cortez also shares Trump’s alleged think skin, as she was quick to respond. Looking through the lens of color, the Democrat offered her own take on reality.
She tweeted: “Or: maybe having powerful editorial positions awash in people from one race, class, or gender isn’t a good idea; since we get 1000% more takes on “brown lady says a curse word” than an actual white supremacist in Congress. If you won’t look the mirror, people will do it for you.”

The swipe at “an actual white supremacist” being an attack on Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa, a frequent target of the left, who made the critical mistake of agreeing to do an interview with the New York Times.
Kraushnaar pointed out in another tweet that the embedded campaign reporters are racially diverse, while talking about “racial quotas,” drawing another response from Ocasio-Cortez, an expert in her own mind when it comes to the “black experience.”
“Do you understand how fundamental the black experience is to American politics? And to American history? One race isn’t substitutable for another. It doesn’t work like that. It’s not about “quotas.” It’s about understanding the country you’re living in,” she tweeted.

With Kraushaar being a white male, Ocasio-Cortez can get away with this racially divisive progressive dogma.
The reaction on social media shows that there are still some in America who believe that the content of one’s character, to include their qualifications, is greater than the color of one’s skin.
