Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson blasted a British tabloid over what he said was a “fabricated” interview with him criticizing the “snowflake” generation.
Just hours after the Daily Star published the story entitled, “EXCLUSIVE: The Rock slams snowflakes as ‘looking for reasons to be offended,'” the superstar actor and former professional wrestler took to Instagram to “set the record straight.”
“Earlier today, online, an interview dropped with me, apparently it was with me, where I was insulting and criticizing millennials,” the 46-year-old actor told his 128 million followers in the video. “The interview never took place. Never happened. Never said any of those words. Completely untrue. 100 percent fabricated.”
Even after denouncing the story, it was still being carried by the British publication. Multiple other news outlets, including Fox News and BPR, carried the story that reported the star of Disney’s “Moana” and host of NBC’s sports competition, “The Titan Games” decried those who are “looking for a reason to be offended” for setting society back decades.
“I’ve gained such a great trust and equity with all you guys all around the world over the years and you know it’s not a real ‘DJ’ interview if I’m ever insulting a group, a generation or anyone because that’s not me and that’s not who I am and that’s not what we do,” Johnson said in the video.
“I don’t even know where that term came from,” he added, referring to “snowflake.”
Johnson kicked off the video stating that he couldn’t believe he had to “do this again.” Last September, the World Wrestling Federation superstar posted a similar video slamming a Facebook scam using his name to collect money.
The Daily Star did not immediately return a request for comment from Fox News about Johnson’s video denunciation of the purported interview. The newspaper is published by Reach PLC which also publishes the Daily Express and the Daily Mirror.
In Friday’s post to his social media page, Johnson reiterated in the caption that if he ever did have an issue with anyone, he would not take shots in interviews but would “seek them out, create dialogue and do my best to understand them.”
“Criticizing ain’t my style,” he wrote. “I don’t cast stones and we all get to be who we are.”
