The media’s continued use of “self-appointed experts” to downplay the crisis occurring along the southern U.S. border is really starting to get under former U.S. Border Patrol chief Mark Morgan’s skin.
In a scathing rebuke on Fox News Channel’s Tucker Carlson Tonight Wednesday evening, the former Obama administration official said there’s nothing “manufactured” about the hordes of criminals streaming across the border, or about the countless men and women who’ve died trying to defend the border.

Morgan began by saying anyone who calls the border crises “manufactured” is either misinformed or misleading the American people.
“[M]en and women are risking their lives every day and apprehending rapists, murderers, pedophiles, other violent offenders and gang members. That’s not manufactured. That’s real, and that’s a fact and it’s still happening today,” he told host Tucker Carlson.
“One last point is 127 border patrol agents have died. They didn’t die playing Monopoly. They died being the front-line defenders of our borders and trying to apprehend the 17,000 people that Secretary Nielsen mentioned. I wonder if they asked their families if this is a manufactured crisis.”
Homeland Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen revealed last week that 17,000 aliens with criminal records have been apprehended along the border. This fact has been dismissed by Democrats and their media allies.
The duo of fact-deniers have also denied the existence of a crisis along the border. Their evidence? Self-appointed experts who’ve never even spent a day of their lives on the border.
Case in point:

There are two points everyone should understand:
1) The “border crisis” is completely manufactured by Trump’s own policies. If he treated migrants humanely, there would be no crisis.
2) A border wall is not border security and would fix nothing. It’s just a vanity project.

“Go to the [real] experts that are really working that,” Morgan argued Wednesday. “I’ll say, the president has done that. The president is talking to the leadership of CBP and the Border Patrol and the rank and the file. And those are the experts, and they’re saying the wall works.”
That’s true.

Following Morgan’s statement, Carlson questioned him about some of the dubious “fact-checks” that the media published after President Donald Trump delivered a speech from the Oval Office on Tuesday regarding both the ongoing government shutdown and the ongoing border crisis.
One “fact-check” reportedly claimed that drugs aren’t entering the country via the southern U.S. border. They’re only entering the country via valid ports of entry.
“Again ah, a complete disingenuous statement,” Morgan said. “So you want say, because more drugs enter the points of entry, therefore it’s not a problem in-between the ports. That’s just fictitious.”
He added that while it’s true more drugs do enter the country via valid ports of entry, that doesn’t negate the millions and millions of pounds of drugs that enter via the border.
He then addressed false claims that all illegal immigration occurs via Visa-overstays — that nobody ever illegally immigrates to the United States by crossing the border.
“I can’t believe someone could actually state that. Again, there’s factual, historical data and that is absolutely absurd. That’s false,” Morgan replied with incredulity.
The last “fact-check” pointed to by Carlson posited that according to many studies, illegal immigrants commit crime at a lower rate than actual American citizens.
“I’ve never seen that study. Where are those numbers from?” Carlson asked.
“I’ve never seen study either, and I pose that to somebody to show me that stat and show me how they can come up with that, because I can show you the opposite,” Morgan replied.
“The sheriff in Yuma Arizona just published an article today, where he talked about how in 2005, when they started putting the fence, the wall up in his area, violent crime, all crime drastically reduced in his area.”
Yuma County Sheriff Leon Wilmot has indeed made it clear in several statements made in the past few weeks that the border wall built in his county has worked wonders for crime.

“Yuma went from having 5.2 miles of border fencing before 2006 to 63 miles, and subsequently saw an almost 95 percent decrease in border apprehensions by 2009, when Border Patrol made about 7,000 arrests,” The Epoch Times reported this week. “Wilmot said the fence also helped cut ancillary crime in his community by 91 percent.”
In concluding the discussion, the Fox New host asked Morgan, “So you’re saying … that the people telling me that they were fact-checking the speech may have not really known what they were talking about?”
“That’s absolutely what I’m saying,” Morgan replied.
