Surprising absolutely nobody on Earth, save for those who live in echo chambers (irony alert), four virulently left-wing CNN political commentators agreed Sunday morning that the media needs to perform more race- and gender-baiting going into the 2020 presidential election.
Leading the pack was CNN chief media correspondent Brian Stelter, who purports to be an unbiased journalist but has consistently acted as a mouthpiece for the Democrat Party.
“Are reporters repeating some of the mistakes made in 2016 already?” he asked three guests, all of whom were noted Democrat strategists and commentators … much like himself.
When he said “some of the mistakes,” did he mean the media’s rush to paint all supporters of then-GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump as unrepentant racists and sexists. Of course not. He meant the media’s failure to spend enough time painting all supporters of their shared political enemy as bigots.
As noted by one of his guests, failed Democrat presidential nominee Hillary Clinton’s spokeswoman, Karen Finney, “How the media covers the candidates, we can’t be afraid to call out things that are racist or sexist.”
“We tend to get these phrases about things that are ‘racially tinged’ or ‘hints of sexism’ but yet when we talk about antisemitism, we’re very direct,” she continued. “So part of it is going to be not being afraid to call things out for what they are.”
While that may have sounded nice, the problem is she didn’t mean a thing she said. Nor did Stelter mean it when he furiously nodded his head in agreement as she spoke. It was all an act.
Where’s the proof? The way they and others in the media have reacted every single time a Democrat, including Clinton, has said something genuinely racist or sexist.
Last year alone the failed presidential nominee accused married white women of being mindless robots who do as they’re told by their husbands and suggested all black men look alike.
The media ignored these instances of sexism and racism, just as they continue to ignore, downplay or even defend the constant sexism and racism of their fellow Democrats.
It’s the Democrats who’ve referred to black conservatives as “coons.” It’s the Democrats who’ve “slut-shamed” first lady Melania Trump. It’s the Democrats who’ve derided Florida as a “cracker” state.
And it’s the Democrats who’ve said point-blank that the party should stop catering to the white working class because whites will always “vote with their whiteness.”
This type of Democrat-perpetrated racism and/or sexism is never addressed by the media, or at least not the demonstrably left-wing mainstream media of which Stelter happens to be a part.
The only types of racism and sexism they ever cover are those that for the most part don’t even exist.
When the president awarded a Presidential Medal of Freedom to deceased rock star legend Elvis Presley last November, the media cried racism.
When the president’s supporters began identifying themselves as the “silent majority” during the presidential election three years ago, the media cried racism.
And when the Department of Homeland Security put out a press release last February that contained arguments in favor of the president’s tough immigration approach, the media cried Nazi.
But when a member of the very same media that cries “racism” and “sexism” all the time described renowned conservative commentator Michelle Malkin as a “monkey,” they said nothing.
But no, despite these and many other examples, the media’s real focus should be the “racial resentment” felt by those pesky white people who voted for Trump in 2016, according to Stelter and his fellow Democrats.
“The best example I can give you from 2016 is the fact that polls were saying people had economic anxiety, but what the media was missing was what was driving the economic anxiety was about fear of change, was about racism, was about sexism,” Finney said Sunday.
“So that whole conversation was really missed on the national level in terms of what that meant for the country,” she added, ignoring the endless hit jobs the media ran on Trump supporters.
“There was not enough talk about racial resentment,” Stelter said in agreement. “We focused on a lot of financial anxiety and not racial anxiety.”
That’s not even remotely true, but when have the facts ever mattered to CNN? Certainly not on Sunday.
