Rep.elect Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez, the newly elected democratic socialist from New York, has nothing on House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi when it comes to making time for “self-care.”
Fortunately for Pelosi, she is held to a whole different standard than a member of the Trump family.
While President Donald Trump canceled his planned 16-day Christmas vacation at his Mar-a-Lago resort in response to the government shutdown, Pelosi jetted off to a luxury resort in Hawaii, the Washington Free Beacon reported.
More from The Free Beacon:
Pelosi, who has put blame squarely on President Donald Trump for the current government shutdown, was spotted Thursday vacationing in Hawaii at the Fairmont Orchid resort, where room accommodations range from $899-a-night for a standard room to $4,899-a-night for the presidential suite.
The resort, on Hawaii’s Big Island, features a golf course, six restaurants, and a 10,000-square-foot oceanfront pool. It also features a “Spa Without Walls,” where the 110-minute Ali’i Royal Experience is available for $369 and a 50-minute couples massage runs $549, according to the spa menu. While at the spa, guests can snack on a gluten-free grilled prawn summer roll for $19.
The president, who did make a surprise visit to the troops serving in Iraq, said on Christmas Eve he was “waiting for the Democrats to come back and make a deal.”
Meanwhile, in a display of how warped politics are in American today, White House senior advisers Ivanka Trump and husband Jared Kushner took heat from the left for leaving Washington for Mar-a-Lago during the shutdown.
Ivanka and Jared under fire for Mar-a-Lago vacation during shut down
@IvankaTrump way to go… 800,000 not getting paid #GovernmentShutdown and you’re sunning your #BonyAss at #MarALago. And No, I don’t want to see #Jared sunning hisself… https://t.co/Ex9lxToa6G— PT Dougan (@PTDougan) December 27, 2018
A government shutdown would seem like a time when the president's two closest advisers would be working hard in DC. Instead, they're working hard making promotional appearances at his business. https://t.co/rXHPhGLkim

When Pelosi does return, the next speaker of the House will be rocking a new tan and the media will display no intellectual curiosity in learning how she got it.
Tucked safely away at the luxurious Hawaiian resort, Pelosi had the audacity to call Trump a “fear monger” over the president’s get-tough stance on border security.
“He talked about terrorists coming in over that particular border, which wasn’t so,” she told USA Today. “He’s using scare tactics that are not evidence-based, and it’s wrong.”
And while Pelosi commented online on the Christmas death of an 8-year-old illegal alien child in Border Patrol custody — an autopsy showed the child had the flu — the hypocrite’s Twitter feed has been silent in response to a police officer in her state being shot and killed by an illegal immigrant.

The cop, Ronil Singh, had just posed with his wife and young son Christmas morning, hours before being killed.
The murder being the latest incident of Americans being victimized by people who have no business being in the US — people who have a stout ally in the Democrat Party, which runs interference on any attempts to address illegal immigration.
Pelosi may be relaxing in the lap of luxury, but she did find time to fret over federal employees working without paychecks due to the shutdown — because her party places a higher value on pandering to Hispanic voters than they do border security.
Maybe @realDonaldTrump and @HouseGOP can’t imagine living paycheck to paycheck like most Americans. But the #TrumpShutdown will force nearly 800k federal employees to go without pay – right in the middle of the holidays.
