The Resistance was salivating over a report that there is evidence President Donald Trump’s former attorney Michael Cohen went to the Prague in 2016 to secretly meet with Russian officials in the run-up to the U.S. presidential election.
At least, until Cohen took to social media to dash their hopes of a smoking gun.
Cohen tweeted Thursday that he has “never been” to Prague, after McClatchy News Service reported there’s evidence to support claims that he did travel to the Czech Republic city.
The tweet included a cryptic reference to special counsel Robert Mueller, with Cohen stating that Mueller “knows everything.”
“I hear #Prague #CzechRepublic is beautiful in the summertime. I wouldn’t know as I have never been. #Mueller knows everything!” Cohen tweeted Thursday.

Scott Dworkin, co-founder of the Democratic Coalition and proud member of the Resistance, responded to Cohen’s tweet with a broader inquiry, asking if he has ever been to the Czech Republic.
“NO,” the attorney tweeted in all caps.

McClatchy said that Cohen, who pleaded guilty to eight counts, including campaign finance violations, and has been cooperating with Mueller’s probe, traveled to Prague and there are cell tower pings from his phone to prove it. Electronic surveillance also captured Russians talking about Cohen being in Prague, according to the report.
Of course, there’s a possibility that Cohen’s phone could have been “cloned.”
The Daily Wire’s Ryan Saavedra tweeted a quote to this effect from the Daily Mail: “Every phone carries an International Mobile Equipment Identity number, or IMEI, an electronic fingerprint that can be altered. Instructions for the hack are readily available online, covering both Apple & Android.”
Cohen's phone may have been cloned to suggest he was in Prague:

The Daily Mail suggested “a foreign agent who obtained the ID number of Cohen’s phone could have cloned it and switched it on somewhere in order to suggest he was present.”
Mueller is said to have evidence that Trump’s former lawyer traveled to Prague from Germany in late August or early September of 2016.
The unverified Russian dossier from Democratic-financed British ex-spy Christopher Steele claimed Cohen traveled to the city to set up the arrangement of cash payments to Russian hackers, according to The Washington Times.
More from McClatchy:
A mobile phone traced to President Donald Trump’s former lawyer and “fixer” Michael Cohen briefly sent signals ricocheting off cell towers in the Prague area in late summer 2016, at the height of the presidential campaign, leaving an electronic record to support claims that Cohen met secretly there with Russian officials, four people with knowledge of the matter say.
During the same period of late August or early September, electronic eavesdropping by an Eastern European intelligence agency picked up a conversation among Russians, one of whom remarked that Cohen was in Prague, two people familiar with the incident said.
The phone and surveillance data, which have not previously been disclosed, lend new credence to a key part of a former British spy’s dossier of Kremlin intelligence describing purported coordination between Trump’s campaign and Russia’s election meddling operation.
Cohen’s tweet makes it that much harder to know what to believe, but the report of evidence keeps alive the hopes of the president’s detractors that the Trump campaign did collude with Russia.
One thing is certain, the intrigue prompted plenty of reaction online, with social media users quick to weigh in with their own speculation.

sounds like a CIA trade craft move. Deep State never sleeps.

Or somebody may have altered the cell tower log to suggest the same thing.
We are, after all, expected to believe someone altered the logs of a US government SCIF hundreds of times to falsely implicate Samatha Power in the illegal unmasking of intel intercepts.

The old someone-took-my-cellphone-and-travelled-to-Czech-Republic defense.

It sounds like @MichaelCohen212 is saying that his phone has its own travel agent and travels on its own.

All you need to add is a “muwahahaha” at the end, and then it’s perfect ?

Why so cryptic Michael? Never ever been to Prague, or never been there in the summertime?
— John Madincea (@jmadincea) December 28, 2018
What a long, strange, trip this is? I’ve never seen anything like this in my life and probably wont again?

I feel like I’m in a James Bond movie. This tweeting is ridiculous, and certainly illegal! Give “code” much, Cohen? #MuellerKnowsEverything ?
