Brit Hume expertly shut down Soledad O’Brien and other critics of President Donald Trump about his visit to Iraq with “brutal” and “irrefutable” comebacks.
Just as the rabid leftist media drummed up the “fake news” about Trump not visiting U.S. troops at Christmas, the president and first lady arrived in Iraq to do just that.
.@FLOTUS Melania and I were honored to visit our incredible troops at Al Asad Air Base in Iraq. GOD BLESS THE U.S.A.! pic.twitter.com/rDlhITDvm1
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) December 26, 2018
Hume took to Twitter to educate those who were clearly spreading the false narrative which Trump just riddled with holes. That included liberal actress and Trump-hater, Alyssa Milano, who was reality-checked by Hume.
Trump becomes first president since 2002 not to visit troops at Christmastime. https://t.co/VEyyij9B0S
— Alyssa Milano (@Alyssa_Milano) December 26, 2018
By the time this was posted, the President and Mrs. Trump were in Iraq with the troops. https://t.co/g9ACNO5hxn
— Brit Hume (@brithume) December 26, 2018
Former CNN anchor Soledad O’Brien offered her hot take on Hume’s tweet, implying the negative attention by his critics prompted the president to make the surprise visit to the troops.
Shaming him seems to work. https://t.co/KMSPnDAPyE
— Soledad O’Brien (@soledadobrien) December 26, 2018
O’Brien’s ridiculous statement was shredded on Twitter and prompted a response from Hume.
Yes, Ma’am. Trump read this tweet when it was posted and time-traveled himself back to yesterday and flew to Iraq. Genius take.
— Brit Hume (@brithume) December 26, 2018
The epic response from the Fox News political analyst sparked a collective round of social media applause.
Brit Hume, you are the master of the gentlemanly, irrefutable comeback.
— Soapbox Pundit (@Soapbox_Pundit) December 26, 2018
Brutal
— Duke Ian MacNeal (@Ian_MacNeal) December 26, 2018
Genius and Soledad O’Brien should never be used in the same sentence. Ever
— DRM (@JTMSDADDY) December 26, 2018
Unfortunately, O’Brien was not alone in her “genius take” on Trump’s first Christmas trip to a war zone as liberals who can’t handle the truth continued to squawk. Author and former Secret Service Agent Dan Bongino spelled it out in a tweet on Wednesday.
Dear Libs,
Presidential trips to conflict zones are NOT scheduled days in advance. They’re scheduled weeks in advance w/advance teams on the ground up to 1-2 weeks prior. Your dopey suggestion that Trump took this Iraq trip in response to your criticisms this week is just dumb.— Dan Bongino (@dbongino) December 26, 2018
Investigative journalist Sharyl Attkisson backed Bongino’s remarks.
I just said this. That’s been my experience from learning about trips made by presidents in the past. They aren’t spur of the moment. They aren’t planned at the last minute but they can be cancelled last minute if it’s determined to unsafe. Like if snipers were shooting at us. https://t.co/PtmFEbVXla
— Sharyl Attkisson?️♂️ (@SharylAttkisson) December 26, 2018
Of course, Attkisson’s “snipers” comment referred to Hillary Clinton’s refuted claim that on a 1996 trip to Bosnia as first lady, her plane landed under sniper fire.
O’Brien apparently wasn’t shamed enough for her snarky remarks about the White House releasing the official Christmas portrait of the Trumps, as she tweeted that “they forgot to include their kid.”
Even after being slammed for her suggestion that “shaming” Trump got him to travel to Iraq, she doubled down in a classless response to Hume, claiming that it was CNN’s reporting from weeks earlier that forced Trump’s hand.
Sorry—let me spell it out more slowly so you can understand me: the President (according to cnn’s Barabar Starr) prepped for this trip several weeks ago. The shaming seems to have worked. I hope you’re having a nice holiday. Try not to be such an a**hole in 2019. ❤️
— Soledad O’Brien (@soledadobrien) December 27, 2018
The 75-year-old veteran journalist served up his frustrated reply.
Then why’d you post your tweet in response to one that was about a tweet sent today? Your tweet was ridiculous.
— Brit Hume (@brithume) December 27, 2018
Twitter users rallied behind Hume and slammed O’Brien for her tantrum-throwing and immature behavior.
She was so condescending & rude, @brithume, I dont think I would give her the time of day.
— Susan Benson (@NeverWasABot) December 27, 2018
Soledad O’Brien acted like a real a$$. Brit Hume called her on it, and did it in a way that exposed her as a hack and a fraud. Now she’s having a tantrum and backpeddling, but the damage is done. Her behavior today will be remembered for as long as she’s on Twitter.
— James Markus (@JamesMarkusWrit) December 27, 2018
I agree. I wasnt either. People can disagree, be passionate, even angry, without being nasty.
I’m so sick of it
— Susan Benson (@NeverWasABot) December 27, 2018
I think she’s been drinking a bit too much eggnog.
— T-Covfefe (@MyPlace4U) December 27, 2018
So she’s low-class and nasty as well as being ignorant. What a combination!
— Catherine (@kerrwilk) December 27, 2018
Someone take the shovel out of Soledad’s hands before she digs herself even deeper into her pit of lies.
— Brett King (@k9ranger_king) December 27, 2018
She just confirmed everything I have thought about her for years in that one tweet. For the love of God get some class in 2019.
— Cam Brown (@CamBrownJax) December 27, 2018
When you are mean to Brit Hume, it’s time to examine your life.
