Actress Rachel McAdams set off a firestorm of reaction after a photo of her was posted complete with diamonds, designer clothes and … breast pump.
This is great but would be more realistic shot in a dirty McDonald's bathroom stall or in a small office mother's room that she had to kick a male coworker out of first https://t.co/5R6QughRqW

The 40-year-old Canadian actress, who gave birth to her first child in April, was featured in the unconventional photo shoot for Girls. Girls. Girls. magazine.
Claire Rothstein, the magazine’s editor and founder, posted the eyebrow-raising photo of McAdams using the pump while wearing Versace and Bulgari diamonds. Her caption added even more to the explosive reaction online.
“Breastfeeding is the most normal thing in the world and I can’t for the life of me imagine why or how it is ever frowned upon or scared of,” Rothstein wrote. “I don’t even think it needs explaining but just wanted to put this out there, as if it even changes one person’s perception of something so natural, so normal, so amazing then that’s great.”
“Besides she’s wearing Versace and [Bulgari] diamonds and is just f***ing major. Big shout out to all the girls,” she added. “Side note: I did not look anywhere near as fabulous as this when feeding/pumping. And that’s ok too.”
Meanwhile the photo of the “Mean Girls” actress, who is also known for starring in “The Notebook” and “Wedding Crashers,” sparked radically different reactions on social media as it quickly went viral.
?HOLD THE PHONE! ?WE’VE GONE VIRAL!

Feminists and liberals found the image empowering and applauded the message it sent.
“This is all the vibes,” exclaimed “Pretty Little Liars” actress Troian Bellisario.
As someone who is currently breastfeeding/pumping. This shot @clairerothstein took of #rachelmcadams just makes me squeal with delight. Hells yeah. This is all the vibes. ?? https://t.co/O8ehLsAycB

Salon reporter Shira Tarlo declared that the photo was proof that “women really can have it all.”

Actress Sasha Perl-Raver raved about the photo which she called “Sexy. Fly. Strong. Empowered. Beautiful.”
Rachel McAdams werking Versace, Bulgari, and a breast pump on the cover of Girls. Girls. Girls. is damn near bringing me to tears. Sexy. Fly. Strong. Empowered. Beautiful. And just look at all that milk! pic.twitter.com/FdX98uGVeX

Others also showered the image, and the actress, with praise.
For one day, can I just look as badass as Rachel McAdams does while pumping? #workingmomgoals #restingpumpface pic.twitter.com/xlTHICpzsr

Diamonds and breast pumping. Yassssss, woman. Beautiful. The story behind this immediately iconic, incredibly important image of Rachel McAdams… from the female photographer herself: https://t.co/Cmrakc4woD pic.twitter.com/xSwvkc6Hq1

Women. We’re fucking amazing.
— Marissa Monticolo (@MMonticolo) December 20, 2018
But many others on Twitter slammed the photo for being blatantly out-of-touch and “unattainable.”
Daily Wire Editor-in-Chief Ben Shapiro weighed in as well.
My wife pumped in a closet between hospital shifts, so whatever https://t.co/EXakfczBZo
— Ben Shapiro (@benshapiro) December 20, 2018
As you may have heard, she is a doctor. Which is also slightly more impressive than being an actress. Sorry, not sorry.

Rachel McAdams is just like us, breast-pumping in Versace https://t.co/fwMfgllSzu pic.twitter.com/5IzHefIrhF

Feminism is in a weird place right now. Women fought their asses off to not be objectified. Now a lot of them have realized that being objectified is fun. It’s a bit of a cross fire and makes things very difficult to talk about.

Maybe I should post pics in my military uniform, pumping breast milk in my combat boots. Maybe the media will find that empowering ?
— Karen (@GApeech65) December 19, 2018
And what is empowering?
I’m sure every fresh mom is eager to get some Versace stuff..
Newsflash.. Millions cannot afford it.If you ask me, that is empowerment for the already entitled and powerful..
— Karl Hines ????ler (@khb_56) December 19, 2018
There is nothing empowering about this photo, or this woman, or any of this trashy advertising bullshit. It’s Versace trying to get onto the women are feeling empowered bandwagon for their own marketing purposes. Give us all a break.
