White House counselor Kellyanne Conway slammed “really embarrassing” remarks made by incoming Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez about outgoing White House Chief of Staff John Kelly.
Conway questioned the intelligence of the 29-year-old Democratic socialist from New York and the “slur” she used against the soon departing Kelly.
“This country owes him a debt of gratitude,” Conway told Fox News’ Bill Hemmer on Tuesday, noting Kelly’s nearly five-decade military career. “Not the nonsense that’s been spewed about him even recently from the left, and from this 29-year-old congresswoman who doesn’t seem to know much about anything when you ask her basic concepts about the economy, the Middle East, military, funding.
It’s “really embarrassing, and for her to even use a slur against him yesterday — and I won’t repeat her name or the slur,” Conway added, “but let me stand up for Gen. John Kelly. He has done a magnificent job for this country for almost 50 years.”
Though she didn’t mention what the “slur” was she referred to, it seems likely it was Ocasio-Cortez blasting Kelly for his “cowardice” because he has refused to apologize to Florida Rep. Frederica Wilson.
“He absolutely owes her an apology, and his refusal to do so isn’t a sign of strength – it’s cowardice,” the freshman congresswoman tweeted. wrote.
Kelly and Wilson sparred last fall when he refuted her claim that she secured the funding for an FBI building in Florida. Kelly got into the fray when Wilson and President Trump locked horns when she accused him of being insensitive during a call to Myeshia Johnson, Wilson’s constituent and the widow of Sgt. La David Johnson who was killed during a mission in Niger.
Ocasio-Cortez made her comments about Kelly, himself a Gold Star Father, in a tweet responding to Rep. Barbara Lee’s call for him to apologize before he leaves the White House.
John Kelly was straight up exposed for lying about @RepWilson in comments aimed at discrediting her.

Conway defended Kelly, a retired four-star Marine general who served as Trump’s Secretary of Homeland Security before stepping in the role of chief of staff and responded to Hemmer’s question about whether he would stay on past January 2 if no one was named to replace him.
“That’s up to the president and chief of staff General John Kelly certainly. I know they both love this country and want there to be a transition to the next leader here,” Conway said.
Meanwhile, many did not appreciate Ocasio-Cortez disparaging Kelly and slammed her on Twitter for her insulting remarks.
Doesn’t matter. We know if she opens her mouth, something dumb is coming out. I’ve never seen a bigger idiot elected to Congress.

Ms. Ocasio-Cortez, former bartender now congresswoman, you have never sacrificed a damn thing in your miserable (pissed-off at the misogynistic) World & now you have the audacity to slander a true American hero? It will truly be fun creating memes highlighting your ignorance!

41 years in the Marines and a son. The man has sacrificed more for his country than you ever will. Considering your recent headlines, for you to criticize him for inaccurate statements is laughable.

Hey bartender, the term cowardice shouldn’t even be used in the same paragraph as John Kelly.
