Trump rips into Mueller and ‘his gang of angry Dems,’ vows ‘heroes’ will emerge… and it won’t be them

President Donald Trump went after special counsel Robert Mueller with a vengeance in a series of tweets early Tuesday, calling him a “conflicted prosecutor gone rogue.”

The Twitter rant came after Mueller accused former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort of lying to the FBI and federal prosecutors in violation of a plea agreement he reached in September.

Falling back on the “13 Angry Democrats” tag the president has previously applied to Muller’s team, Trump again called the investigation a “phony witch hunt” and said it is “only looking at one side, not the other.”

“The Phony Witch Hunt continues, but Mueller and his gang of Angry Dems are only looking at one side, not the other,” the president tweeted. “Wait until it comes out how horribly & viciously they are treating people, ruining lives for them refusing to lie. Mueller is a conflicted prosecutor gone rogue….”

As damning as that was, Trump was only getting warmed up, as he followed that up with a tweet bashing the media for its portrayal of Mueller, who he accused of doing “TREMENDOUS damage to our Criminal Justice System.”

“…The Fake News Media builds Bob Mueller up as a Saint, when in actuality he is the exact opposite. He is doing TREMENDOUS damage to our Criminal Justice System, where he is only looking at one side and not the other. Heroes will come of this, and it won’t be Mueller and his…” he tweeted.

One can only wonder what “heroes” the president has in mind, but it suggests that he may know something others don’t.

In a third tweet, Trump drew attention to the cost of Mueller’s probe, before pivoting to the Clinton Foundation.

“….terrible Gang of Angry Democrats. Look at their past, and look where they come from. The now $30,000,000 Witch Hunt continues and they’ve got nothing but ruined lives. Where is the Server? Let these terrible people go back to the Clinton Foundation and “Justice” Department!” the president wrote.

Manafort was not mentioned in the tweets, and his attorneys responded to Mueller’s claim by asking the judge to move forward with his sentencing, The Hill reported.

“He believes he has provided truthful information and does not agree with the government’s characterization or that he has breached the agreement,” Manafort’s lawyers said. “Given the conflict in the parties’ positions, there is no reason to delay the sentencing herein, and he asks the Court to set a sentencing date in this matter.”

Sentencing is scheduled on Feb. 8, 2019 and Manafort, who’s being held behind bars, faces a maximum sentence of 80 years in prison.

That’s a long time behind bars… unless he’s pardoned.
