In a clear display that he views it as little more than a game of cat and mouse, fired FBI director James Comey took to Twitter on Thanksgiving to announce that he has been subpoenaed to appear next month before the House Judiciary Committee.
Looking to dictate the terms, Comey rejected the planned closed door hearing.
“Happy Thanksgiving. Got a subpoena from House Republicans,” he tweeted. “I’m still happy to sit in the light and answer all questions. But I will resist a ‘closed door’ thing because I’ve seen enough of their selective leaking and distortion. Let’s have a hearing and invite everyone to see.”

The irony of Comey whining about leaks being off the chart, given that he admitted to orchestrating the leaking of a memo detailing private conversations he had with President Donald Trump in hopes it would being about the appointment of a special prosecutor on alleged Russian collusion.
Comey is to be questioned about “allegations of anti-Trump bias that led to the shutting down of the probe of Hillary Clinton’s private email server and the opening of the investigation into purported ties between the Trump campaign and Russia,” Fox News reported.
Former Attorney General Loretta Lynch has reportedly been subpoenaed as well.
With GOP control of the House quickly coming to an end, it appears Comey will turn to the courts to run the clock out.
“Mr. Comey embraces and welcomes a hearing open to the public, but the subpoena issued yesterday represents an abuse of process, a divergence from House rules and its presumption of transparency,” his lawyer, David Kelly, said in a statement to Fox News. “Accordingly, Mr. Comey will resist in Court this abuse of process.”
Of course, an irony greater than his expressed concern about leaks is that falling back on transparency may be the opposite of his true intent.
Bill Mitchell, host of “Your Voice America,” tweeted that testifying publicly will limit the time Comey can be asked questions and give him an out from answering due to security concerns.

The Daily Wire’s Ryan Saaverdra is also on to Comey’s ruse.
“Comey is saying this because he knows that he will be asked questions that can only be answered in a closed door hearing,” he tweeted.

If he’s asking for an open hearing then trust me it’s not for the benefit of the people it’s for the benefit of James Comey

I’m trying to take you seriously, but you are finding yourself in this position, just as we find ourselves in the midst of an unfathomable maelstrom, because you chose to swing an election and then justify it with self-righteous hogwash. No pity.

LOL – you have been "resistant" to telling the truth – and you are the king of selective leaking – we are thankful that you @Comey are well down the road to felony level indictments for your wrongdoing… enjoy your non-prison Thanksgiving meal while you can… https://t.co/KgScWyfoKP

Because Republicans waited until after the midterms to subpoena Comey, he can probably just run out the clock with this legal fight. https://t.co/Wpnhxq5oCu
