The election crisis in Broward County spiraled further out of control Friday when elections supervisor Brenda Snipes defied a court order to allow state officials to inspect the voter records she’s been handling.
“That was supposed to be complied with by 7:00. The lawyers for Brenda snipes will not allow our team to come in and comply with the court order,” Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz revealed Friday on Fox News.
“That very same order ruled that Brenda Snipes violated the Florida Constitution by not allowing access to these important records.”
Listen:
Earlier Friday Gov. Rick Scott filed an emergency complaint against Snipes accusing her of refusing “to disclose records revealing how many electors voted, how many ballots have been canvassed, and how many ballots remain to be canvassed.”
The governor sought full transparency because of a growing belief by him and others up for reelection in Florida, including GOP gubernatorial nominee Ron DeSantis, that Snipes may be trying to commit voter fraud to tilt the results of the 2018 midterm elections in their opponents’ favor.
While both Scott and DeSantis still led in their respective elections as of Saturday morning, their leads had dropped even further because of new ballots that kept popping up out of nowhere.
Gaetz noted Friday night that Snipes has a history of shady behavior: “There was litigation demonstrating that Brenda Snipes actually destroyed ballots in a Democratic primary, so this is widespread incompetence.”
In May a judge ruled that Snipes, a Democrat, had violated state and federal laws by illegally destroying ballots for the 2016 congressional primary race between her leftist ally, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, and Tim Canova, who ran as an Independent.
Later this year in August, a judge again ruled against Snipes after the Florida GOP reportedly filed a suit against her claiming her office “was opening ballots in private, preventing people from challenging if they were properly cast,” according to Fox.
“And then in 2016, Broward County violated the law when it posted early voting results online before polls even closed,” the outlet added.
Listen to the governor speaking with Fox News host Sean Hannity to learn more about his current suit:
Yet despite what appears to be widespread evidence of past and current fraud by the Broward County elections supervisor Brenda Snipes, a surprising number of “journalists” think accusations of voter fraud in Florida are conspiratorial.
Included among the doubters are Chris Cuomo of CNN, who grew indignant Friday evening when Gaetz broached the possibility that Snipes may be trying to commit fraud.
“They’re hiding the proof. They’re playing hide the ball with the freaking ballots! So how are we supposed to prove the fraud when they’re not allowing us to go behind and have access,” he bluntly said to the CNN host.
“But how can you say there’s fraud when you haven’t seen the ballots?” Cuomo replied.
“When a judge tells them they have to show them by 7 o’clock, they tell us to come back at 10 the next morning,” Gaetz replied.
“Shame on them,” Cuomo concurred.
“Good, but don’t cast that same shame on every other county in Florida where there’s no evidence of wrongdoing,” Gaetz said, referring to a previous attempt by Cuomo to blame Snipe’s behavior on the governor for not having fired her.
Watch the back-and-forth exchange below:
The reaction on social media has been mixed, with President Donald Trump, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio and others accusing Snipes of committing voter fraud, and left-wing media personalities likewise accusing Trump and his allies of entertaining conspiracy theories.
Below are tweets from those who believe voter fraud is occurring:
Thank you @marcorubio for helping to expose the potential corruption going on with respect to Election Theft in Broward and Palm Beach Counties. The WORLD is now watching closely!

How can anyone have confidence that the #BrowardCounty election supervisor will be fair when last night she made clear her personal animus toward Gov. Scott & towards the states top law enforcement agency when she claimed he “owns” the #Florida Department of Law Enforcement? https://t.co/K1lrwzRcnE

The biggest threat to the integrity of our elections is not Russian interference, it’s rouge partisan officials like Brenda Snipes in Florida. Voter Fraud IS REAL!

The Broward County ballot magician, Brenda Snipes, was just swiftly rebuked by a judge (yet again) for her antics!!!
Florida will not tolerate this kind of fraud‼️https://t.co/etOpsRnAZo

Floridians are rightly concerned about voter fraud in #Broward.

And below are tweets from those who think allegations of voter fraud as conspiratorial:
Man. Some folks in Florida need to lay-off the Cuban coffee. Stop spreading conspiracy theories and let the process play-out. We need to get every vote counted so that Floridians can accept the legitimate winner, whomever it may end up being.

The coverage of the Florida Senate race is going to be a test of the mainstream media’s ability to sort out bad-faith conspiracy theories intended to whip up the Fox News crowd into a frenzy. Let’s hope they do better here than they did on the caravan.

Republican and internet conspiracy theorists are freaking out as new ballots threaten their Florida Senate win. https://t.co/UTAhRr9Ocf

Marco Rubio is using his official Twitter to propagate a ludicrous conspiracy theory about election fraud in Florida, in a desperate attempt to prevent legitimate votes from being counted.
It’s unhinged, undemocratic and should be deleted — and universally condemned.

Let’s see…now GOP in Arizona and Florida are fighting to stop votes from being counted because…umm…it’s fraud. Because reasons.
I tell you, “voting fraud” conspiracy theories are GOP go-to for everything. “Senator, you cheated on your wife.” Senator shouts “VOTOR FRAUD!”
