Networks’ attempts to bait Israeli ambassador into blaming Trump for synagogue shooting backfire BIGLY

CNN and MSNBC desperately tried to goad Ron Dermer  — the Israeli ambassador to the United States — into blaming President Trump for the massacre at a Pittsburgh synagogue, but their sad attempts backfired bigly.

CNN’s Victor Blackwell asked Ambassador Dermer if Trump bears any responsibility for anti-Semitic crimes in the United States. Dermer shut him down by retorting, “I’ve been following anti-Semitism all my adult life. I have never heard a stronger statement than the statement the president of the United States made.”

Ambassador Dermer praised President Trump for condemning anti-Semitism and all violence, and pointed out that many members of the Trump family are Jewish.

“One of the reasons why anti-Semitism hits the president close to home [is because] his daughter, his son-in-law, and his grandchildren are Jewish,” Dermer noted. “I was very glad to see how forcefully he pushed back against the [anti-Semitic shooting].”

In the wake of the Pittsburgh synagogue massacre, President Trump expressed his unwavering support for the Jewish community.

“This evil anti-Semitic attack is an assault on all of us. It’s an assault on humanity,” he said. “It will require all of us working together to extract the hateful poison of anti-Semitism from the world.”

MSNBC’s Ayman Mohyeldin also tried to bait Ron Dermer into blaming President Trump for the shooting. He, too, failed miserably.

Mohyeldi asked: “Do you attribute that at least partly to the more heated rhetoric in this country since President Trump took office? How do you, as an Israeli government official, explain this explosion of anti-Semitism in the U.S.?”

Ambassador Dermer pointed out that anti-Semitism existed in the United States long before President Trump took office, and praised Trump for his forceful condemnation of attacks against Jews.

“The problem, Ayman, is that when people attribute anti-Semitism to one side of the political debate, they make a very big mistake,” Dermer said (see video starting at 11:09).

“I see a lot of bad people on both sides who attack Jews,” Dermer said. “There was an attack in 2006. And there was an attack in 2014 against the Jewish community center in Kansas.”

In 2014, Barack Obama was president. No one blamed him for the attack on a Jewish community center, despite Obama’s anti-Israel policies and relentless championing of the disastrous Iran nuclear deal.

In 2015, pro-Israel groups launched a petition to get Ayman Mohyeldin, who’s Egyptian-American, fired from MSNBC — citing his anti-Semitic, anti-Israel news coverage.

“Ayman has systematically provided biased reporting for NBC over the years, with his journalism frequently shown to be misleading and inaccurate under scrutiny,” the Change.org petition read.

“This petition is to have Ayman removed from our television sets and have him stop poisoning the minds of the less informed.”
