Kanye West designed ‘Blexit’ shirts supporting black Americans’ mass exit from Democratic Party

EDITOR’S NOTE: There is an update on this post and we would like to correct the record. Both Kanye West and Candace Owens say that Owens’ statement about West designing the shirts was a misunderstanding. West did not design the logo on the shirts, but his name was associated with them due to a miscommunication.

Kanye West is putting fashion behind his call for black people to leave the Democratic Party.

The rap star reportedly launched a T-shirt design declaring an exit — or “Blexit” – from the Democratic Party which was unveiled at Turning Point USA’s Young Black Leadership Summit.

Though West was not on hand at the Washington, D.C. conference on Saturday, Turning Point USA Communications Director Candace Owens said he was there “in spirit,” according to the New York Post’s Page Six.

“Blexit is a renaissance and I am blessed to say that this logo, these colors, were created by my dear friend and fellow superhero Kanye West,” Owens said at the event in which she formally launched the movement.

She added that the singer “has taken one of the boldest steps in America to open a conversation we have needed to have.”

The statement shirts come in orange, teal and lavender with designs that say “Blexit” or “We Free.” They are also part of the launch of Blexit.com, which features black Americans who have left the Democratic Party giving their stories. A multi-city tour is also in the works for next year.

“The Blexit movement will spend 2019 holding rallies in every major city in America that the Democrats have destroyed,” Owens said.

West, who is married to reality TV star Kim Kardashian, visited the White House earlier this month, speaking to President Donald Trump on a variety of issues while in the Oval Office. West has been a vocal supporter of Trump, which has earned him plenty of backlash from the left but has not stopped him from speaking out, as he did in an appearance on “Saturday Night Live.”

The event at the White House was predictably slammed by the left who refuse to acknowledge that young black Americans could actually support the president. The Rev. Al Sharpton even seemed to suggest Trump was being racist in hosting the group.

West’s T-shirt design got not-so-surprising criticism from the haters on the left, but was praised by many others on Twitter.
