MSNBC’s O’Donnell zooms in on protest sign to say Mont. Trump rally big ‘mistake.’ Footage tells different story …

MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell took the network’s liberal anti-Trump spin to a whole other level Thursday when he ignored the massive crowd to declare that President Donald Trump made a “mistake” to hold a Montana rally in liberal Missoula County.

O’Donnell pointed to an almost indistinguishable sign that spelled out “impeach,” made by adding letters to a giant letter M on the side of Mount Sentinel, to support his assertion.

“Donald Trump won Montana by 20 points in 2016, but Democratic senator Jon Tester has been consistently polling ahead of his Republican challenger. The latest polling shows the Democrat at 49 percent, the Republican at 45 percent, in a state the President won by 20 points.

“Donald Trump made the mistake of holding his rally in Missoula County, one of the most liberal parts of the state of Montana,” the MSNBC anchor declared, after noting the Republican challenger in the Montana senate race, State Auditor Matt Rosendale, was trailing his Democrat opponent in a state Trump won by 20 points.

Touting the Resistance, O’Donnell then drew attention to signs of life from the anti-Trump forces, as seen in the manipulation of a few letters — that was hard to see in the photo he shared.

“Today some residents of Missoula added a few more letters to their giant ‘M’ that President Trump couldn’t miss, spelling the word ‘impeach,'” he said. “That’s what it says there. Maybe we have to zoom in on it.”

On nearby Mount Jumbo the word “liar” was also spelled out, with additional letters added to a giant ‘L’ that represents Loyola Sacred Heart Catholic High School.

As for whether the rally was a mistake, videos and images shared on social media by the Rosendale campaign say something altogether different.

The jaw-dropping turnout prompted this remark from a reporter from the Great Falls Tribune: “I am being bused to the rally site. My jaw dropped at the long, long lines of people and cars.”

Interestingly, O’Donnell cherry picked a poll from Vanderbilt University showing the Democratic Senate candidate in Tennessee, Phil Bredesen, one percentage point ahead of his Republican opponent, Rep. Marsha Blackburn, again noting that Trump won the state by 26 points.

Never mind that the New York Times released a poll this week showing Blackburn had widened her lead over Bredesen, who had received a surprise endorsement from singer Taylor Swift, to a commanding 14 percentage points in the race.

Here’s a sampling from Twitter of the Montana crowd attending the rally O’Donnell described as “a mistake.”
