Bette Midler declares ‘women the new n-word of the world’ in unhinged tweet, right before she deletes it

Talk about cultural appropriation. On behalf of women everywhere, Bette Midler tried to take ownership of the “N-word” in a tweet that was more racist than she may have realized.

In the Age of Trump, the term “unhinged” is way over used, but when considering the liberal meltdown being seen now that the Democratic Party has failed in its ambush of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, unhinged is a fitting description.

Look no further than a tweet from Midler that was quickly deleted.

“’Women, are the n-word of the world.” Raped, beaten, enslaved, married off, worked like dumb animals; denied education and inheritance; enduring the pain and danger of childbirth and life IN SILENCE for THOUSANDS of years,” the actress/singer said in a tweet. “They are the most disrespected creatures on earth.”

Of course, being a good liberal, Midler was quick to recognize the error of her ways, offering an apology after deleting the ill-advised tweet, saying the “too brief” probe of accusations against Kavanaugh set her off — this being the investigation announced to be no more than one week.

“The too brief investigation of allegations against Kavanaugh infuriated me,” she said in a follow up. “Angrily I tweeted w/o thinking my choice of words would be enraging to black women who doubly suffer, both by being women and by being black. I am an ally and stand with you; always have. And I apologize.”

And while the apology is sure to work better for her, being a ranking member of the Resistance, than it did for Roseanne Barr, even unhinged liberals saw the tweet as a bridge too far.

In the end, Midler touched the third rail of racial politics in America and was quickly jolted back into her proper place by social media users of all persuasions.

With a net worth somewhere around $230 million, peddling the notion that you are oppressed is tough sell, you have to admit.
