Sen. Jeff Flake, the liberal Republican senator from Arizona who bought Democrats another week to kill the Brett Kavanaugh Supreme Court nomination after falling for the political theater on the left went further Sunday to show just how spineless he is.
In what may be confused for a victory lap, Flake appeared on “60 Minutes,” alongside pal Sen. Chris Coons, D-Del., and said he would never have sold out to the left had he been running for reelection.
Flake, who announced last year he would not be running for reelection, was asked by CBS anchor Scott Pelley if he could have “done this” if he was still running.
“No, not a chance,” the Trump-hating Republican lawmaker responded. “There’s no value to reaching across the aisle, there’s no currency for that anymore.”
As a smiling Flake spoke, he and Coons exchanged a glance — the Democrat fittingly told Pelley his buddy was a “hero” for his actions, which will give Democrats another run at destroying Kavanaugh.
It didn’t seem to occur to Flake that the current political atmosphere began during the Obama presidency, when the former president reminded the GOP that he won, later telling them that if they don’t like his positions to “go out there and win an election.”
Flake originally announced Friday that he would vote to confirm Kavanaugh out of the Senate Judiciary Committee, but was later cornered by two screaming activists from the George Soros-funded left-wing group Center for Democracy as he was exiting an elevator.
Not having the wherewithal to navigate past the professional activists, Flake stood there like a deer caught in the headlights for four minutes while the two women berated him. He would later back off his earlier statement, saying he’d vote to move the Kavanaugh nomination to the Senate floor, but called for a delay in the floor vote until an FBI investigation can be held.
After his betrayal, Flake was seen yucking it up on stage Saturday with Coons at the Global Citizens Festival, telling the liberal crowd, “Feel free to join me in an elevator any time.”

It was instructive to see Flake lean into the Democratic narrative that Kavanaugh may not have the temperament to be a Supreme Court justice during the interview on “60 Minutes,” an narrative that is based on his angry reaction to an ambush job by Senate Democrats, who all but called him a rapist in their disgusting attempt to ruin him.
“If I were unjustly accused, that’s how I would feel as well,” Flake said. “As it went on, I think his interaction with some of the members was a little too sharp.”
All of which means the Flake Goodbye Tour may not have seen its final act.
