Just hours after backing Christine Blasey Ford’s accusations against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, a classmate of the accuser has walked back her claims.
Cristina King Miranda told NPR on Thursday that she had “no idea” if the alleged incident between her classmate and Kavanaugh ever occurred despite her social media posts just one day earlier claiming “this incident did happen.”
“That it happened or not, I have no idea,” Miranda said. “I can’t say that it did or didn’t.”

On Wednesday, Miranda wrote in now-deleted posts that Ford “was a year or so behind me” at the elite all-female private school, Holton Arms.
“I did not know her personally but I remember her. This incident did happen,” Miranda, who now lives and works in Mexico City, wrote referring to Ford’s claim that a drunken teenage Kavanaugh groped her during a house party nearly four decades ago.
This is the letter, posted on Facebook, from a woman who knew Kavanaugh, Judge and Blasey Ford and claims that the attack did happen, that “many of us heard about it in school,” and that it was talked about for days afterward.

Kavanaugh and his classmate, Mark Judge, whom Ford says was there during the alleged incident, have denied the accusations. A third classmate named has also denied attending the party.
Miranda later took down the Facebook post and explained on Twitter that she deleted it “because it served its purpose and I am now dealing with a slew of requests for interviews.” She later deleted this tweet as well as, apparently, her entire Twitter account.
She admitted Thursday that she was unprepared to defend her remarks once she came under scrutiny. Of course, this practical step of considering the facts before adding to a smear campaign against Kavanaugh is obvious to those not touting the left’s agenda.
“In my post, I was empowered and I was sure it probably did [happen],” Miranda told NPR’s Nina Totenberg. “I had no idea that I would now have to go to the specifics and defend it before 50 cable channels and have my face spread all over MSNBC news and Twitter.”
She revealed that the Senate Judiciary Committee reached out to her, which she found surprising, and said she would not do a committee interview if asked.
