Keith Ellison’s accuser says with proof, Dem party smears, doubts her – cry for Kavanaugh’s head, with none

The woman who accused Rep. Keith Ellison of domestic abuse is slamming Democrats for their hypocrisy amid allegations against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

The Minnesota Democrat’s former girlfriend, Karen Monahan, blasted Democrats for not believing her after she came forward last month with allegations that he had physically and emotionally abused her during their relationship, including hurling obscenities at her and once dragging her off a bed.

Ellison, who went on to win the Democratic primary election for Minnesota attorney general even after the accusations, has denied Monahan’s claims.

And though the Democratic National Committee announced it would review the allegations, weeks later Ellison, the DNC’s deputy chair, has faced no repercussions even as party members are looking for Kavanaugh’s head after a woman accused him of alleged sexual misconduct over three decades ago.

“Democrats say believe women, do they believe you,” a twitter user asked Monahan, referring to her claims in the wake of how they are treating Kavanaugh’s accuser, Christine Blasey Ford.

“No, they don’t,” Monahan responded. “I’ve been smeared, threatened, isolated from my own party. I provided medical records from 2017, stating on two different Dr. Visits, I told them about the abuse and who did it. My therapist released records stating I have been dealing and healing from the abuse.”

While Ford has no other witnesses to her allegations that Kavanaugh tried to force himself onto her at a high school party when they were teenagers, – which he has denied – Monahan said she has produced texts between herself and Ellison as well as other proof of the abuses.

“As I said before, I knew I wouldn’t be believed,” she said in another tweet.

Prominent Democrats and progressives, such as Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders and DNC Chairman Tom Perez, have demanded Ford’s claims be investigated while they remained mum after the accusations against Ellison emerged. Perez frequently deferred to the DNC probe and the state-level party’s investigation, neither of which have produced anything on Ellison.

Perez tweeted Sunday about the “serious allegation” against Kavanaugh and that it “must be investigated thoroughly.”

No tweets from the DNC chair on Ellison, however.

Democratic strategist and former advisor to Hillary Clinton and John Kerry, Peter Daou, tweeted that people must “believe women” and that Kavanaugh’s accuser would be “attacked, smeared, and demonized.”

So far, it seems Democrats have done nothing of the sort.

Monahan also called out both parties for trying to score political points at the expense of a victim’s pain.

With the Democrats’ eleventh-hour antics to smear Kavanaugh and derail his confirmation vote scheduled for Thursday, scoring political points seems to be the name of the game.
