Woman who was fired for flipping Trump the bird announces run for public office

Thanks to the dumbing down of the United States because of rampant liberalism, practically any random idiot in America now stands a reasonable chance of winning a political election, including even cyclist Juli Briskman.

“Who is Briskman?” you ask. She’s a veritable nobody who abruptly earned critical acclaim from the left last year after a White House reporter snapped a photo of her flipping off President Donald Trump as his motorcade passed her along a street in Sterling, Virginia.

That photo quickly went viral, turning Briskman into a temporary hero to the degenerate left:

After a brief period in the spotlight, she disappeared off the map again until this past spring, when she filed a suit against against her former employer, a government contracting firm.

The firm had reportedly terminated her months earlier for using the viral image of her flipping off Trump as her profile image on social media. Briskman fired back in April by filing suit on the basis that her termination had been unfair. Apparently, she felt she was entitled to a job.

“I filed this lawsuit against my former employer today because I believe that Americans should not be forced to choose between their principles and their paychecks,” she whined at the time.

Now fast forward to this week, when Briskman announced that she intends to run for office in November against Loudoun County Board of Supervisors official Suzanne M. Volpe, a Republican. Why is she now running for office? Possibly because she still feels angry over her justified termination.

“We have a right to peacefully protest and criticize and express dissent toward our government,” she said to The Washington Post, defending the behavior that led to her firing. “I’ve gotten some feedback that folks say you should respect the president. Even if you don’t like what they’re doing, you shouldn’t show this sort of disdain. And I simply disagree, and I think the Constitution grants me that privilege.”

True, but being hired is also a privilege — one that comes with certain obligations. And it just so happens that one of the obligations mandated by her former employer was that employees not disrespect the president. Because Briskman failed to meet this obligation, she was therefore justifiably fired. The fact that she disagrees, claiming the termination was unjustified, would bode badly for her chances of election in an ideal world. Will it in this world, though?

“Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton won Loudoun County with 55 percent of the vote in 2016, and the following year Ralph Northam (D) expanded her margin, winning 59 percent of the vote in Loudoun on his way to becoming governor,” the Post noted.

In other words, Briskman could really beat Volpe, a veteran legislator who believes in reduced taxes, balanced budgets, quality infrastructure and jobs, jobs, jobs. And what, pray tell, does Briskman believe in? She believes she’s entitled to keep a job even after she violates her employer’s rules …
