A Democrat mayor who seemingly cares zero for America’s sovereignty and rule of law signed an executive order Thursday that banned U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement from using her local jail to detain illegal immigrants.
“As we work to achieve our vision of an Atlanta that is welcoming and inclusive, with equal opportunity for all, it is untenable for our City to be complicit in the inhumane immigration policies that have led to the separation of hundreds of families at the United States southern border,” Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms said in a statement laden with virtue-signaling.
Atlanta has permanently ended its acceptance of ICE detainees and will immediately transfer all those remaining out of our City jail. We will not be complicit in an immigration policy that intentionally inflicts misery on vulnerable populations. Read Here: https://t.co/fdP46uXTee pic.twitter.com/Oe0JrdeGZ2

Thursday’s move by Bottoms marked her second attack on America’s rule of law. The first attack occurred in June, when she signed a separate order blocking the jail from accepting new ICE detainees. Because of that order, the number of illegals housed at the local jail dropped from 205 in June to just five as of September, according to the The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
These five will now need to be transferred out of Atlanta and into direct ICE custody.
“Atlanta will no longer be complicit in a policy that intentionally inflicts misery on a vulnerable population without giving any thought to the horrific fallout,” Bottoms told reporters Thursday. “As the birthplace of the civil rights movement we are called to be better than this.”
Illegal immigrants aren’t victims but rather criminals who flagrantly violated America’s immigration laws and thus deserve to be brought to justice, or so many argued, including Georgia gubernatorial nominee and current Secretary of State Brian Kemp.
“The City of Atlanta should focus on cleaning up corruption and stopping crime — not creating more of it,” he said in a statement.

Is it moral to allow criminals to roam the streets?! What about the rights of citizens that obey the law that could get hurt by these dangerous people? Maybe crime (mugging, rape, or other frightening crimes) will affect one of you or family, then you’ll change your damn tune.

89% of the lawbreakers that ICE arrests are criminals. Mayor you are not protecting the people of Atlanta. Good luck Atlanta, your Mayor puts more value in illegals than its Atlanta residents. Watch your crime rate rise along with your heartache ?

The citizens you represent would be vulnerable to criminals with crimes in addition to entering the u.s. illegally if not for ICE. So you are complicit with this order.

WOW ! So you will let criminals walk who don’t belong in the US To go back out and commit more crimes! Lady you’re not to bright and very anti-American ?

Criminals are not a vulnerable population.

So you are admitting to aiding and abetting criminals. got it. You hold them until the feds get there then send them a bill. That’s how it works.

Bottoms’ excuse for supporting the violation of federal law is that “no one should be jailed solely because they seek the American Dream.”
“I do not make this decision lightly, or without concern as to the impact on these individuals,” she said in her Thursday statement. “But until there is comprehensive immigration reform, this is the only way Atlanta can truly fulfill its legacy of compassion and tolerance. Civil offenses do not warrant criminal consequences – and no one should be jailed solely because they seek the American Dream.”
Like other liberals, Bottoms appears to care more about emotions than facts.
