The national anthem was at the center of attention before the Falcons-Eagles game but not because anyone was kneeling.
In fact, there were hardly signs of any protest during Thursday’s NFL-opener between the Philadelphia Eagles and Atlanta Falcons, but all eyes were soon on Boyz II Men for their rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner.”
The R&B trio, all Philadelphia natives, thrilled fans when they hit the field donning Eagles gear and bringing down the house with their harmonies.
The verdict after the “sexy” and “powerful” rendition of the national anthem?
Twitter users concluded that the trio should be the only anthem performer at every game.
Boyz II Men might as well sing the national anthem from now on .

Boyz II Men is the ONLY group of singers I know that turned the national anthem into a slow jam

Boyz II Men should also be the referees for this game and they get to sing the penalties to us. I’d be fine with that. Let Wanya in the booth to call the game, too.

Many announced that Boyz II Men was the “best thing about this game tonight,” and questioned how anyone could even think about kneeling during the performance.

Eagles defensive end Michael Bennett did reportedly choose to sit down before the end of the national anthem, according to Yahoo! Sports which reported that Bennett “was wandering around near the bench during the anthem, then took a seat right near the end of the song.”
If you can take a knee through that anthem I’ve got no time for you. Boyz II Men just rolled out one of the best versions I’ve heard in a long time, powerful stuff. #NFLKickoff #NationalAnthem
