Former Trump aide drops clues about ‘coward’ NYT source, believes he knows who ‘she’ is

Former Donald Trump campaign aide Michael Caputo believes he knows who the “coward” is who wrote the  “resistance” op-ed in The New York Times.

“I know it’s a woman,” the political strategist said in an interview on WBEN radio in Buffalo, N.Y.. “I’m being cautious. My attorney is keeping me from saying her name but yes, I believe it’s a woman. I believe I know who it is.”

Caputo also believes the anonymous author of the op-ed, which claimed that Trump’s senior staffers are working against him, “should have stood up” and “resigned.”

“The Trump administration is filled with people like her,” he added. “There are active programs to stop Trump loyalists from joining the administration and to purge Trump loyalists from departments within the president’s administration.”

Caputo considered the Times op-ed to be just a “symptom of a larger problem,” noting that is isn’t hard to determine who the writer might be. The “first indication” of someone not being loyal to the president, he said, is that they would be in one of the many departments in the administration who have “completely purged all Trump people from their ranks.”

The ex-Trump aide noted how the “cleverly written” piece in The New York Times was “very professionally written” and “clearly a ghostwriter” did the work because “she can’t write op-eds this well.”

The writer is “arrogant” and sees herself as “Captain America,” he said, calling the anonymous author a “snake” who dropped hints in the piece leading to different officials in the administration.

“This person is so cowardly, they dropped important words often used by their colleagues to try to throw the scent off of them,” he said.

“It’s par for the course for her strange personality,” Caputo said. “It’s dangerous to fire her because of who she’s related to.”

But Caputo is confident “she will be found out.”

He fired off a blistering attack on the anonymous staffer during an appearance on CNN’s “Anderson Cooper 360” Wednesday.

“I gotta tell you, this scares the living daylights out of me,” said Caputo. “This is the New York Times, who — we spoke earlier about this — who really talked a lot about and discussed and published the Pentagon Papers. There is somebody working for the President of the United States at a very senior level who is trying to destroy him.”

“You don’t take the coin of the realm and then betray the trust of the President of the United States,” he added. “In addition, the working men and women of America, we know that the bravest and the brightest of this nation, they don’t, you know, stab their boss in the back and complain about them anonymously.”

Caputo found the whole thing “disturbing” and believes the consequences should be severe.

“I’m furious about this,” he said. “And I think that this anonymous op-ed writer must be found, must be fired, must be investigated. And if they’ve leaked classified information or something in the past, they must be prosecuted and jailed!”
