Hours before President Donald Trump took to social media Saturday morning to blast Silicon Valley’s tech giants for censoring conservative voices, his administration quietly launched a bombshell suit against one tech giant in particular, Facebook.
In a complaint filed in federal court Friday, the Department of Housing and Urban Development accused Facebook of violating the Fair Housing Act.
“Facebook enables advertisers to control which users receive housing-related ads based upon the recipient’s race, color, religion, sex, familial status, national origin, disability, and/or zip code,” HUD announced in a statement.
“Facebook then invites advertisers to express unlawful preferences by offering discriminatory options, allowing them to effectively limit housing options for these protected classes under the guise of ‘targeted advertising.'”
In others words, if a landlord wants to block his or her housing ads on Facebook from being seen by potential black tenants, he or she may. And according to HUD, this is wrong.
“The Fair Housing Act prohibits housing discrimination including those who might limit or deny housing options with a click of a mouse,” María Farías, HUD’s Assistant Secretary for Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity, said.
“When Facebook uses the vast amount of personal data it collects to help advertisers to discriminate, it’s the same as slamming the door in someone’s face.”
This is the same thing Facebook and other social media entities have been doing to conservatives, as noted by the president Saturday:
Social Media is totally discriminating against Republican/Conservative voices. Speaking loudly and clearly for the Trump Administration, we won’t let that happen. They are closing down the opinions of many people on the RIGHT, while at the same time doing nothing to others…….

…..Censorship is a very dangerous thing & absolutely impossible to police. If you are weeding out Fake News, there is nothing so Fake as CNN & MSNBC, & yet I do not ask that their sick behavior be removed. I get used to it and watch with a grain of salt, or don’t watch at all..

….Too many voices are being destroyed, some good & some bad, and that cannot be allowed to happen. Who is making the choices, because I can already tell you that too many mistakes are being made. Let everybody participate, good & bad, and we will all just have to figure it out!

To learn what precipitated these tweets, look here.
While shocking, HUD’s accusations against Facebook are nothing new. Word of the social media platform’s racially targeted ads first emerged in 2016 while former President Barack Hussein Obama was still in office.
Despite proclaiming themselves to be champions of protected classes, liberals on Twitter reacted to HUD’s announcement with their usual dose of cynicism, rage and false accusations:
The king of housing discrimination charges discrimination? Give me a break!

Are we surprised to set this after the ultimate Uncle Tom Ben Carson was put in place to run HUD? With his bytch azz
“Attorneys General. Carson has provena strong advocate for weakening the agency’s Fair Housing laws.”

This is about the same reaction they’ve had to the censorship of conservative voices.
More examples of social media censoring conservatives:
- Conservative non-profit PragerU says they are suddenly being heavily censored by Facebook
- Twitter suspends Candace Owens, calls it ‘an error’ after sharp backlash. What she posted is key.
- “Offensive … appalling!’ Diamond & Silk accuse Facebook of ‘discrimination’ as battle intensifies
